You're turning this into a discussion that will go to PARF, pup.

1119 cases of self defense does not mean that the life of the person who was the shooter was in danger only that they thought it was, so it is not accurate to claim those lives were saved. What is not in dispute is over 14,000 lives were lost. Do you not see the problem here?
The law allows and in many cases encourages gun ownership but there must be training and accountability. If all people had the level of training, awareness and accountability possessed by most of the members of this board the problem would be greatly diminished.

So send it to PARF. Is that some stigma? Is it harder to click on a different forum link? Is someone afraid of having to defend their position when away from their safe space? Sheesh.

Yes, it's a stigma. And this isn't a safe space, it's a fun forum for people who have a common interest in a certain car brand, not a rite of passage to the teachings of John Birch.

Then don't click on the link if the subject "triggers" you. When I was still working my way through the tech forums, if I saw a(nother) "what oil should I use?" thread, it was easy to ignore and not be tempted to jump into the fray. I wasn't tempted to comment and then complain that I shouldn't have had to read that stuff.

There's a couple of people on this thread I admire, so I wanted to read their opinions on a subject that can bring quite a lot of heat. As usual, those two or three members had thoughtful, measured responses. The rest? Well, As usual, not so much.

It will always be impossible to quantify how many folks "save their lives"or "defend themselves" with a firearm. Or anything else for that matter.

Is there a threshold below which we cannot justify responsible citizens owning firearms? Does it need to be a certain number per year for some of you to say "yeah, that's enough, I guess it's ok to own guns"? Really?

How about, say, fire extinguishers in schools? If they do not show a minimum rate of usage, couldn't we just remove them and save a few bucks?

You can’t start the interpretation argument and then play innocent when someone pushes back.

Also confused how anybody could misinterpret this part: “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed“. The founding fathers didn’t mince words here.

If you can't see how you're PARFing up the thread, I don't know what to tell you. And you only quoted part of the Amendment. Edit much?

I disagreed with Glen's interpretation of the Constitution being fact and not political. I asked a few questions, all in a polite, non-PARF manner. I was attempting to have a non-PARF conversation. Were you?

I can tell you there are new threads started daily here I do not enter because the thread titles alone are so dumb - I already know there's nothing there that would interest me.

Do whatever you want - seriously.

But if you don't like the subject....why are you even here?

It's not hard......
