Anyone here use a "water-pick"

Dentist says with an implant, the waterpik is better than floss. I'm considering one but I don't need the top of the line name brand. Anyone have one that works good but is a base model or not name brand?

My wife uses a WaterPik water flosser. She's had it for a number of years now with no problems that I'm aware of.

I have used this one for several years. Exactly what you are looking for. Find it on Amazon for less than $30.

Thanks for the replies. I just want to know if there is some who uses the cheaper Amazon sourced water flosser and it has held up for a while.

I use Piksters. Small brushes that go between your teeth. Multiple sizes (thicknesses) and I use yellow. The brushes gently brush between your teeth and push any food that's stuck there out. I still floss once a day but that's more out of habit.

The one that I recommended I’ve been using the same unit for two years now. It has held up rather well, especially for a $30 unit.

My prior unit was a handheld water pic unit. From a performance standpoint, this one performs just as well as the water pic.

Hope this helps.

This is the one we use and has held up well. It has been transformative and everyone should be given one on their 60th birthday.

So, if you use a water pick, do you still use dental floss?

I still do sometimes use pick and floss but the water pik gets 98% done in 2 minutes.

Thanks Cajun. I'm a slow learner LOL so I think I need to move onto a water pick.

As we age and get more "long in the tooth" the food trap factor increases exponentially. Two minutes with these little tools will quickly restore sanity and keep us healthy over time.

Protips:
1. Use warm water only, never cold.
2. Close your mouth gently over the device before pressing the start button to contain the mayhem. Otherwise you will pressure wash the entire bathroom in 5 seconds.

Yep and I mix in a bit of table salt.

Also I use it in the shower because to minimize the potential over spray mess.

I have used one of these for years. My dental hygenist recommended it after i had some gum issues. I mix in some listerine in the tank as my hygenist recommended to help fight gum disease. Since I started using it no more gum problems. I floss first then flush with the waterpik.

I use one daily. I even have a travel one.

I bought the set at Costco which came with the two units. the big unit, I finally tossed. keeping a water irrigation thing Clean is a effen impossible task. water gets trapped somewhere and it will mold. I literally used one water-pic to clean the other.

I am about to buy a new one with Flex spending. the travel unit is on the counter now and the adjustments are wonky. it hits hard. the the period is very pronounced. the bigger home unit was smoother and it adjusted more..it had more adjustments.

I put a tiny splash of blue listerine in mine. very warm water. like my retired dentist suggested. it is crazy how, no matter how judiciously I floss and brush..a food nugget will come out.

and I still floss my implant. it is easy. plenty of room under there. I'll soon have a second implant right next to it. it will be spacious.

I tried a water pick for a few months...works good most of the time.
After eating a steak, the only thing to clean good for me between the teeth is floss.

Been using a Waterpik for years upon recommendation from my dental hygienist. If I don't use it I feel dirty.

I have this:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08N7GMGML

WSJ had an article on various ones. I needed one that I could also take on the road. Uses 2 AA batteries.

This has been great post radiation treatment, since my gums receded quite a bit.

My wife is a retired dental assistant. We use one daily and it has helped reduce my gum "pockets" quite a bit. Highly recommend. I use regular floss periodically still, but mostly the water pik. We also use a Sonicare toothbrush.

I will add that using these devices has greatly reduced the amount of work the dental hygienist has to do to get plaque off of my teeth when cleaning. To me that is a big bonus.
