Copilot stabs pilot and pushes plane over into steep dive. Amazing that the pilot was able to unlock the cockpit door, and also changed the radio frequency signaling there has been a breach. All while fighting the copilot attacker. Passengers storm the cockpit, subdued the copilot, and pulled back on the controls. Other pilots on the plane, landed the plane safely. Un-****ing-believable. Disaster averted: A pilot on a Dubai-to-Tel Aviv flight has been arrested after he stabbed the other pilot in the cockpit during an apparent attempt to crash the plane, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said. The incident caused the plane to drop 17,400 feet in less than two minutes. Passengers described chaos in the cabin, families screaming, and continual waves of turbulence, followed by a period of stability, before more turbulence. Truly amazing recovery from the dive. Just how much of an overspeed would it take to rip away part of the rudder?! Thank God the plane was saved and all in it! Everyday heroes showed up again!

Pretty epic failure on the part of the airline to properly vet their pilots and the airport security to let this guy bring a knife onboard.

The major news sources all said the passengers "broke in" to the cockpit. I would assume all airlines, even those that don't service the USA have reinforced cockpit doors. The pilot did manage to hit the door release button. He was for sure in a life and death fight, and he prevailed.

reports state that the co-pilot kept repeating only two words over and over, but I can't seem to find any articles that say what those two words were.

And honestly i'd totally believe Netanyahu himself paid for the guy's flight training. BUT that does not change the fact that if you had no muslims in the plane you'd not have this nonsense going on.

Does anybody know what kind of plane it is?
I’m wondering how the passengers were able to level the plane, after subduing the copilot I’m assuming it was an airbus and don’t they have joystick to control the planes? Somebody reached over and pulled the joystick back to level the plane? If it’s a Boeing, they would need to jump in the seat and pull back on the controls. |

I travel a lot, and there is almost always at least one pilot in the jump seat and/or cabin that’s deadheading to their next location. So that’s not very far fetched.

The FlyDubai co-pilot accused of stabbing the captain of a passenger jet mid-flight and nearly causing a catastrophic crash was grounded by Oman Air in 2024 after the airline discovered he had been visiting radical Islamic websites, according to a source familiar with the matter. Authorities believe the co-pilot moved to Dubai later that same year, according to the source, who also told Fox News the co-pilot spent a significant part of his life outside Oman, including with his mother, who is from Syria. According to the source, FlyDubai did not check with Oman Air about the co-pilot before hiring him. |

Always sweet to see good people prevail over evil.
Fortunately the subject aircraft was a Boeing 737-800. Not checking a pilots previous employment history is a common industry issue/problem. Real shame the emergency cockpit crew had to divert and did not continue to Tel Aviv. Last edited by Magyar Kiwi; 10-02-2026 at 10:47 PM.. |
