^^^ Thanks
The driving features that the Honda Sensing has takes a while to learn.(for me) But most of them are very useful.
I esp like the adaptive cruise and the auto high beam dimming.

At the point of agreeing on a price for the car....next comes the hard sell for extended warranty items.
I rejected all..except for one....The Super Polysteel Protection Package. A coating on the exterior and the seats that covers stains and minor exterior damage by tree sap and such. The cost was only $300 and they did it while I waited.

It'll be easy to find in a parking lot.

I'm hoping it's a color that doesn't show dirt quickly. I don't think it will like a dark color does.

It should scare the dirt away.

There are six colors that the Civic can be ordered as. Three darker colors and the lighter ones are white, red, and this blue.
My other two cars that I drive are red and white. That's why I picked the blue.

Jealous.

I saw a new Type R the other day. I would take 50+mpg over that in given your car's looks.

Although a Prius would be awesome (said no one ever)

Can you plug it in? My brother's 2014 Volt could be plugged in and you would get 40-50 only electric motor miles. Does the gas engine drive the wheels at all? The Volt did not.

For fun. Here is a third angle shot:

Thanks. I'm getting to really like the Boost Blue color. I had it parked in a row of parallel parked cars in the city this am. When I came back to leave, there were about 10 cars parked before mine and they were all common colors. Mine was in the back and it was the only one that caught my eye. I'm glad I picked that one.

The newest gen of Prius are good looking.

There is no plug in on Honda's Hybrids. Under the floor in the back is an array of Lithium batteries about the size of a guitar case. Honda warranties the battery pack for 8 years.

When the start button is pushed, the dash reads 'EV Ready' instantly and you take off with no sound at all...other than the tires. When the cars gets up to about 40 (unless you mat it) the 4 cyl Atkinson 2.0 liter engine comes on to charge the battery. The engine also seamlessly couples with the two electric motors at around 40mph. When driving at freeway speeds...the engine is running continuously.

In 'Sport Mode' and driving aggressively...there is a simulated automatic shifting sound. It's very faint and with the radio on, I don't even hear it.

This morning I tried a few high speed passes (60 and up). There is plenty of push to get it done fast. From a stoplight, it's really fun. The SI could never come close.

The car also has steering wheel paddles to use for regenerative braking.

Maybe I should add some black racing stripes....I'll think on that.

Sounds like you trade your DD in every few years Steve. This does not sound very DIY friendly.

Some dog dish hubcaps, beauty rings, and Boost Blue wheels would look pretty boss.

I had been until the age reality started setting in. I'll be 73 soon and am losing concern about being frugal with money. I used to keep everything for 8-9 years.

I drive my Prelude very often in the salt-free seasons....it's 28 years old.
Same with my Carrera...it's 42 years old.
I do everything on both of them....they are very reliable.

I can't even add a fart-can muffler....there are no outlets on the back of the car.
There are black vent-like look outlets....but they are sealed.

A week into driving the Hybrid...some things I noticed.

One thing I didn't like about the SI was the road and tire noise. Almost everyone that rode as a passenger noticed and mentioned it right away. If driving alone, the music would cover it.
This Hybrid is silent compared to it. I got the owners manual out and found it has 'Active Noise Cancellation'. Never had it before, but it sure as hell does work.

The other thing is....when will I finally have to put gas in the thing??
Getting close to 250 miles and it just dropped below half tank on the gauge....and the tank is a 10 gal size.

Make sure your neighbor isn't sneaking gas into your tank.
