This is me ... I am not an asshat driver ... but I started a thread once ... I am an assh*** ... nice lady hogging the pump told me so .

I actually do have a story. Road Rage guy. I called it in. He got pulled over in a construction zone (which had a fatality 3 days prior!). I pulled in to write a complaint as did the guy behind me. Who, happened to be a former prosecuting attorney. The Road Rager DID have a gun. I think he saw some serious downtime after that. Karma.

And if that anyone gets a chance to bail to the right lane the next MF in line gets the same treatment.

yep! I hate that guy. 'ooh there's just enough space to fit in there, I'll jump in!'. Then I've got to slow a bit to leave a somewhat reasonable space between us and what do you know, yet ANOTHER jackass shows up to do the same thing.

Same. Too many nuts out there today. A young woman was shot and killed a few years ago after cutting someone off in traffic not far from where I live. I drive by the spot all the time and I’ve never forgotten it….

Exactly. I clicked mirrors with a guy in a newer F250 a few years ago. We were coming into construction and the right lane closed. I had gotten into the left lane plenty early. I watched a semi get into the left lane and this truck blows by him and tries to pull into the left lane at the last minute with traffic moving slow. He's pissed at me and says "didn't you see my turn signal". I asked "didn't you see that f'ing sign a few miles back that the right lane was closing?"

If the traffic is heavy it’s encouraged to merge when the lane ends. It’s called zipper lane merge. That’s how I do it, but I approach the merge point at reduced speed and I don’t force myself in. I wave thank you to the vehicle that lets me in.
As others have said, I to have no time for people parked in the left lane on the Interstate. That sets off my inner ass hat. I know I can be aggressive if I’m boxed in on the Interstate.

This.

I don't try to button people out of a spot in moving traffic though. I see far too many people that treat commuter traffic as a competition. Not competing in the one ton and won't be in the mighty matrix when I am driving it next school year.

On the highway with the travel trailer behind the truck, I pick my times to get around slow vehicles. Watching how fast the traffic behind me is closing I just adjust my speed to let them through without losing my momentum.

I used to live in near an intersection where 2 lanes merged about ⅛ mile from the light (right lane ended, merging to the left). One day I saw what I assume with a 60 something year old man in a pick up truck, and a mom in a minivan that was probably in her 30s duke it out so that when they got to the single lane bit, the old man had his right side wheels in the grass not far from the ditch on that side, and the woman had 2 wheels over the centerline in the oncoming lane. I was shocked, and thought they both should have been old enough and mature enough to know better.

My new car has ACC. Took a bit of getting used to, but I really like it. I try to find a "brisk" traveling group and can sit on the lead. It reduces that old urge to pick up the pace which can lead to lane changes, stop and go, . . . etc. etc. It really is a nice feature, but I will have my feet covering the controls fully knowing that something unusual will happen in front of me.

That’s one that really pisses me off. Cut off everybody who has already responsibly made their way into the open lane, and then feel entitled that someone should let him in. That’s not how it’s supposed to work because it requires the flow of traffic to stop, zipper merge is when both lanes are still in motion and doesn’t require people to stop. Definite asshat material.

I like the feature on open interstate but it suck in city traffic. Even in the most aggressive setting the ACC leaves too big of gaps and guarantees that you’ll get cut off.

I too, only use it on the freeway/interstate, not where there are any signal lights or intersections. Helps keep the nut behind the wheel a bit less anxious.

Set the adaptive speed control a little over the limit and change lanes as required.
Get in a 4 car train on adaptive speed in row works great.
That's on busy so cal freeways.
Just get on the conveyer belt.
