Tornado in Alaska
Doesn’t happen very often - once confirmed it will be only the 7th one since records started in 1950.

By definition, yes. A tornado touches the ground - a funnel cloud is what it is called if it never touches down.
Sorry - I lived in north Alabama for 21 years. You become an expert on severe weather when you live in that area.

It never made contact to the ground, pretty cool sight though.

My understanding is every state has had a tornado, even Hawaii.
This a time sucker of the site if you are interested in Tornadoes. https://data.sctimes.com/tornado-archive/oklahoma/10095347/ Just change the state, and zoom in or out to your area of interest. It lists the date and time and the EF rating of every know tornado.

Map is awesome. April is in Joplin, MO. She lives just off of Rangeline Road between Lowe's and Home Depot on the Lowe's side. The 2011 Joplin tornado took both of them out.
Which is your favorite, Glen? It offers the "All" and "Deadly" option

![]() This is our house! That is me on the driveway on the right. It looks like it was in our back yard but it was 1.5 miles away from us. It tore the roof off of one house, and tore up some cars in a parking lot. I did not have any film at home to photograph it, so this is from my neighbor across the street shooting video. He gave it to a local TV station, and in the 90s video stills were pretty low res. I was cupping my hands behind my ears trying to hear it. No sound at all from that distance. It was just a F0. Watching it come in from the southwest was cool. The wall cloud looked like stacked plates and and it all looked like a bundt pan upside down. This was just months after we had moved in.
