Self-Murder?
I just read an article about a young man who was found dead at the base of a tall cliff at the Grand Canyon. The article said the death has been ruled a "self-murder". Huh? I never heard that term before. I guess "suicide" is out of fashion.

I think a lot of the social media platforms block "suicide" so maybe that's why.
Either that or some completely ridiculous new PC thing. I hear/see "unalive" a lot these days because I think murder is also often blocked. Next thing will be "life-challenged"

For what it's worth, in German, "suicide" is selbstmord, literally "self-murder."

It's against the law to kill yourself.

I actually first heard the phrase while staying in the Bay Area this January, they had the local news on in the hotel lobby during breakfast. The stupidity of it took me back. But here’s a website since you asked: https://unhousedca.org/
