How to boil eggs

I have learned something that makes boiled eggs peel EZ.
Now, not to compete with real cooks and chefs (Vash) this is what I have learned to do.
DONT run them under cold H20!
I know what everyone says to do, even the internet.
DONT!
Do this-
*Buy an egg boiler for less than $ 30 to make it EZ.
Load them pointy end dwn to allow for the larger void to be at the top.
When done, let them cool for as long as you wish, or just throw them in the fridge.
It will not matter as long as you do not do the quick quench.
When ready to peel, lay dwn a paper towel to whack them on it. This keeps all the shell from scattering)
Whack all sides: top, bottom.
Start at the top where the void is
Now it will all come off really EZ

* depends on how extravagant you wish to go

Does it peel them? That's my challenge. I have long acrylic fingernails. Imagine peeling a hard boiled egg with chopsticks.

I've been using the ATK method posted by Cliff in this thread, and it works well. I feel like the secret is 1) steaming, 2) not over cooking and 3) the ice bath immediately at the end of the cooking. My eggs peel almost perfectly every time.

Have you tried this? Take the egg and tap each end to break the shell. Next, roll the egg on its side wrapped in a dish towel. The shell will break into pieces that are easy to peel. It's not perfect all of the time, but much better than anything I have tried. Good luck!

i think it's the age of the egg.
i do them the same way every time. i use the same (brand) every time.
sometimes you get a batch that just won't peel.

--gets distracted and fires up the search engine---
interesting - google says older ones peel easier. i would have guessed it's the other way around.

I have been doing the non-quench method with whatever brand I buy for a while .
This works for me; it's super EZ no fuss.

I peel them under running water. the water pressure gets between the egg and the shell and hydraulically presses them apart.

I want to try this method, but don't want the shells in my drain.

I do soft boiled eggs for ramen which are more delicate than hard boiled so peeling process is important.

Just roll all over and peel in a bowl of water.

like magic.

I think if you peel your fingernails off with vice grips, you could then do eggs?

Get one of these. Will do soft, med, or hard eggs depending on how much water is added. The measuring container is marked for each type so you can't mess up.
Max of 6 eggs at a time....hard eggs take about 5 minutes. Their is an audible alert when done.
Hard eggs peel easily every time.

I use mine almost entirely for soft boiled eggs. Two eggs on a slice of toast in the am and I'm good.

Do it over a soup kettle and water plants with the waste. I'd do that anyway because here in SoCal if we can get double or more use out of water, that's what we need. It's hard to see all the water from the shower going down the drain with not that much soap.

But that's more than we need to discuss.

For me, I've had a hard time (no pun, or is there?) peeling HB eggs, ice, no ice, whatever. I'm not the kind to boil them and then leave them in the fridge for an hour. I want to have eaten and cleaned up doing other things. No time for dough rising and all that. Let's eat!
