There's a fairly famous local photo of seven dolphins surfing together -- the front part of their bodies out of the water -- in a single wave... also real, not photoshopped.

Dolphins are not only intelligent and fun-loving, but seem to have a pretty strong affinity to humans...

And of course, that affection and care is always returned...

Are you sure it's a dolphin? the tail looks vertical and the step in the head where the nose starts doesn't look like it's there.

It's a dolphin. Pointed nose...

Saintly 12-23-2004 02:01 PM

but a sharks nose comes to a point when viewed from the side as in this shot. where is the bump where a dolphin's head steps down from the eyes/blowhole to the nose? and that tail still looks vertical like a fish, not horizontal like a mammal.

Also, there is a reflection on the water that is preventing seeing the entire head

This is the guy who snapped the photo:

True, but we're looking at it in this shot from the 1 or 1:30 position, not straight on from the side.

Edit:

Just looked at the link with the other shots.

Better view of Dolphin/Shark in the 2nd photo here. Check out the tail. Looks more like a dolphin in the 2nd pic. I would still be scared out of my head if I was the guy on the board.

it's a dolphin. A shark's dorsal fin is shaped a bit differently... and the tail is horozontal, not vertical. Plus, a shark's tail would be more sickle-shaped - longer and more-pointed.

Merry Christmas, Sox fans

Varitek re-signed and named 3rd Captain of the Red Sox in team history

Porsche-O-Phile 12-26-2004 09:33 PM

Captain?!?! What is this, hockey?

;)

I love Varitek. He 'da man. . . Although personally I'd have given Tim Wakefield some serious consideration for that honor as well - he's as much of a unifier and fixture of the team as is JV, IMO. . .

Even better that he didn't go to the Mets, despite what smack-talkin' Pedro said.

Anyone else have an F-1 in the backyard? This isn't mine, but I hope my son's will look similar some day.

My dad had a '50 F-1. It was a horrible pickemup, but it's non synchro trans taught me a lot about shifting...

My mom is the worst cook in the world. Seriously. When I was a kid, the oven timer broke. It was never replaced. No need. We had smoke detectors.

Funny thing is, she loves to cook.

lmao! irony is that I used to think my mom was a pretty good cook until I had a chance to be on my own for a decade-or-two. now all of her food tastes either too greasy or salty. of course I'd never tell her that ;)
