how about requiring the three yayhoos following the SUV to pay a bit more attention? that would go a long way to solving the problem

No, no, that would require personal responsibility. We need to find an aggravating circumstance to name as the primary cause, then enact costly legislation. There needs to be a massive "Lower Bumpers Save Lives" campaign. Forget safe following distance!

Excellent treadmill picture -- that happened to a friend of mine. He was training for a marathon, actually, and just plain slipped. On the submarine, the treadmills are neatly located in front of a big wall of hydraulic piping, which doesn't give at all. It took a moment for the adjacent runner to figure out what had happened, then because poor Ben was such a joker, the adjacent runner thought this was another joke, and just laughed for a moment. When Ben didn't get up, and just kept lying there wedged between the hydraulic pipes and the treadmill getting his skin rubbed off, he got concerned. Poor guy was so scraped up he couldn't stand watch for a week. We gave him a belt sander as a going away present. :) :)

Ok, I retract my statement. Obviously in that case the people following should have removed their heads from their arses, but when the roles are reversed and the driver in the SUV has their head in their respective arse, a driver in a "normal" car will come out much worse off...

Oddly enough I was behind a woman while commuting in Milwaukee (odd that it's on the pictured plate too) who's plate read "PMS-666". I thought-Wow, she must be hell on wheels. But the I saw other PMS-### plates, so I guess she just got lucky.

Ron - that's cool; and trippy. At first glance I thought it was a brightly colored insect on a tree stump!

Yes, I am having my eyes checked today. Really.
