Looks like the Asian country shown might be Thailand? I have been there and thought they were Metric! Found this on Google--
Apologies if I'm wrong.

Officially Thailand uses the metric system of measurement for units and weights. However, distance, size, area and weight are frequently quoted in either Imperial (pounds, yards, feet and inches) or metric (kilogrammes, metres and centimetres). Temperature is measured in degrees Celsius.

Thailand's Ministry of Energy has further information on the measurement system: Click here

Temperature should be measured in Kelvin. It works for everything.

Here in Canada, everything related to at least home building isn't metric. :(

Thanks for telling us that! I guess my apology was unacceptable?

I just find the thermometers awkward. It's hard to not think I'm running a temperature when I read 310 degrees. Plus, the thermometer is so long I usually break it trying to get to the other end to read it.
