My dad ate a balut during his chief's initiation too.

My Mother's side of the family was very Navy centric: Father was a Warrant after Pearl Harbor, her uncles, one Merchant Marine, three Navy Chief's. When I was commissioned, they took me out, got me a bit tipsy and made sure I knew to shut up and learn as an Ensign.
