I built one just like that in Long beach in the 80's for the proctor and gamble plant (where the hanjin terminal is now). It couldn't handle trucks that long tho, just conventional tractor trailer rigs.
The truck full of wood chips would back up, set the brakes, and get chained down. then the lift would tilt the truck and dump the contents into an auger converyor, which dumped into a standard conveyor, which filled the barn. They burned the wood chips in a furnace to run a brown-bavari steam turbine/generator. It ran for three years until they shut down the plant, I heard the turbine went to south america. I did a quick search and found that plant is listed here: California Mesothelioma Exposure Sites | Asbestos Lawsuits in California I scrolled down the list and recognized 18 places on that list that I've worked at, but some of em were duplicates of the same site under different ownership. ![]() Last edited by sammyg2; 06-22-2011 at 03:54 PM.. |
