I imagine that's what got the twin-engined thing back. If necessary, I suppose you can just "throttle steer" it.
Supe, the -16's are called "lawn darts" for a very good reason... they end up sticking in the ground after things go wrong in flight!

The -15 is a lot better fighter but now that the -16 has not been having a Class A every other week guess its doing ok

Cash, spent some time at Fort Hunch-a-huck in the '80's. Lots of "interesting" stuff going on there, and bet its still in the works these days. Had a lot of friends who were Ravens as well as working for AA and CAS over in SEA. Love the old O-1 but when the OV-10 came around the FAC's had a lot more to work with than a few WP rockets and a grease pencil.

Anyway, fly safe...

Joe,

I was there in the late 80's, and our group called it "Fort Wegotcha".

Interesting stuff, you say?? One of the challenges of daily mission planning was getting around all the "no-fly" areas on the map where seeeecret things were happening. Some of the areas would move from day to day!

I have to admit that when you first mentioned RAVEN, it threw me. It is a name we did not use, and I think from this new post that I have figured out the problem. By chance, were they Marines?? I remember there were several OV-10s on the flight line, but they belonged to a Marine training detachment stationed on the base.

There may have been some crossover, but I understood that the O-1 and OV-1 were ARMY, the O-2 was Air Force, and the OV-10 was Marine. I believe all of these served similar roles.

And for all those who don't know them by name, you can compare the OV-1 Mohawk which I posted previously to the following OV-10 Bronco, then to the O-2 Skymaster, and finally to the O-1 Birddog at the bottom of this page:

The Maser was the only car anywhere near it. It was pretty much by it self. Picture was taken in Charlotte N.C, just off of 521 and 485.

Looks like the love child of a Beeskow and a Dannehauer & Stauss. Some post-war VW-based home/coachbuilt?

I have book on these somewhere...
