Maybe they are trying to stop those nasty right wing anti-union people from voting in their election. How would you feel if non-lodge members were allowed to vote on lodge matters?

General elections are for everyone - and not everyone has a picture ID. In the end it does not matter who you vote for, you still end up with a Politician.

How many legal citizens of age do you know who doesn't have picture ID, I call BS, since you need photo ID to buy liquor and smokes, you need photo ID to cash checks, check out books at the library.. If someone doesn't have photo ID, how do they cash welfare checks??

Nowaday's, they don't need photo ID to cash their checks, they're all electronic funds trasfer right to their credit card. They can sell them, cash them, or buy drugs. Wait, they don't do drugs nowaday's, do they?

what about having to ID to use credit cards?? Seems like I always get stuck behind someone digging for ID (why don't people have that ready, they already know they have to show it) at the store..

I know lots of elderly people 80+ who don't have photo ID. My mum is 81 and if someone asked her to show Photo ID to buy liquor it would make her day! Not sure what probem you would be seeking to fix by forcing people to have them in order to vote.

Down here we get 90%+ voter turnout, get your name marked off the roll (no ID required - just tell them your name and address) and you get the ballot papers handed to you. Name not on the role = no papers.

Methinks you might have misinterpreted. The ID is needed to vote in a union election.

As far as general elections go, ID should be required in order to vote for a conservative candidate. Otherwise, no.

And yet, as you say, the result will be a politician in office. That's a problem.

But it's a problem for PARF. That's where we sort these things out and find solutions.

Nothing misinterpreted - understood why the ID for a Union election.

I think I should learn how to use the green text option - might cause less confusion. I was trying to keep it to citizenship and voting rights.

Oh well - back to posting random stuff
