Dammit Cash, seeing photos like these adds another layer of concern when one thinks of the newer style geared turbofan engines & how those planetary reduction gears & their associated bearings take one hell of a beating. I realize of course you are just pointing out the fact these things & anything else mechanical will at some point, suffer some type of failure. Is that the Qantas A380 engine that grenaded?
