It had multiple sealed compartments that were not breached. That photo that started this discussion was the Exxon Valdez.

Its called watertight bulkheads. First used on the Titanic, but they didnt seal them onto the deckheads (ceilings) so the water ran over the top into the next compartment. A watertight bulkhead stops water flowing from one compartment to another. I cannot remember the specifics, but I think ships are designed to float with up to 60% of the hull flooded (3 out of 5 compartments).

The pic below is of the collision bulkhead which separates the bow from the rest of the ship. This 1st bulkhead is reinforced to help against collisions

I have a piece of the rock/reef/whatever it is that was logged in the bottom of the Exxon Valdez when it was brought back to NASSCO ship yard in San Diego after the big oil spill. The ship was put on the floating dry dock and there was a huge piece of Alaska logged in the bottom. As it dried out pieces would fall off and I grabbed one and shipyard security was trying to stop people from taking pieces out the gate but..........

Nah...

It is simply the closest shipyard to the wreck site.

Could not have made a long journey. It was like a multi piece pontoon boat.

Ummm, I hope this is fake, otherwise it shows stupidity on a whole new level. (I am sure it is a toy, but anyway.)
