Yes, one of the best bass players ever but considering what he was up against. Rodger out front as the sex symbol, Pete and Keith (incredibly talented but raving lunatics smashing guitars/drums and jumping off things).

As a bass player I would say there may be a bit of bass player syndrome, many of us prefer to sit quietly in the back and let someone else get the spotlight.

"Thunder-fingers" was dissed by a lot of musicians because he played a lot more than most bassists (not basests) LOL
His on stage presence was virtually nil but it didn't matter because everyone was watching moon the loon going nuts and Pete doing windmills and jumping around.

Genetic breeding? Mom had some peking types that had the tuft, it went away after a few generations but was present in a crossbreed of a rowan (look just like mallards, but slightly bigger and more domestic)
