1977: dad take my older brother and I to see the latest James Bond film. I am 9 and my brother is 14. The theater is playing a double feature.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b94b600cc7.jpg Fast forward to today, when I begin surfing Amazon Prime recently released movies. I see the infamously famous movie the was the being played before the Bond film back in 77. The only time I ever saw my father try to melt away in his seat......as he thought to himself(I am so dead with their mother). Needless to say, my brother and I were on the edges of our seats. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...035dac176f.jpg This probably was one of the first "spoof" films. All I recall was it was first movie where I saw.........."Boobies!!!", I was 9. Memories.... Hard to believe this bad 70's film came out the same time as Star Wars did. ^^ lucky dog!
The first movie I remember seeing was Tora Tora Tora! http://203.144.224.125/dvdcover/Imag...orazone3_f.jpg |
We lived in Hawaii when they were filming Tora Tora Tora. We sat on our front porch and watched the zeros fly around and were real happy they were not shooting real bullets. The bomb explosions were cool to see. My dad worked on base at Hickam AFB at PACAF and they still have big chunks of concrete blasted out of the facade of the building that are genuine bullet holes. They were still there in 2000 so I bet they still are as a reminder to anyone working there that we were attacked.

I think it is great they leave the simple reminder that we were the victim a surprise attack by a country that was at not war with us at the time.

Let's see, the US had advance warning via telegram (being delivered at the end of the day by a Japanese American employee of Western Union), they saw the planes on radar, they had their battlewagons all lined in a row like sitting ducks. Not in single segretated area for potential air attacks. No wonder the base commander was relieved.
Only reason the carriers weren't hit ast they were out to sea. |
