Just another day in Seattle:

I've heard that the Allman Bros song "Blue Skies" is the most requested song in Seattle. And that the reason convertibles are immensely popular here is so people can experience maximum benefit from the rare appearances of the sun.

Hey Scott, got any other views of the Space Needle?.. no buildings from eastern Europe cluttering the view of our city's signature piece. :)

Hey, I've stayed at that Holiday Inn!

No, I just grabbed the pic from the Seattle Times weather cam. Funny thing is that they use a picture from 5/4/04 to show the weather today and yesterday. I guess when it rains so much, everyday looks the same. ;)

djmcmath 05-11-2004 08:37 AM

Seattle weather is easy -- if you can see the Space Needle, it's going to rain. If you can't see the Space Needle, it's raining.

and just think, those little grey things are the reason for the supremely high suicide rate.

but serioulsy. I'm sorry for the bad weather. but everytime I get a new part put on my car, it rains.

sorry guys.

ronin,

At least it was free. Wife is an airline employee and scored some free hotel passes. That trip got me hooked on Seattle. For the last 4 years we've been trying to figure out how to move there. Job market looks like it's picking up, a little.

ronin 05-12-2004 07:25 AM

I know it's easier said than done, but sometimes you just have to say wth and go for it. what industry are you in? on second thought, you wouldn't want to move here anyway. all it ever does here is rain and rain and rain... the scenery is fake, we only put it up to impress the tourists. we take it back down every night :D

That may be true, but when i was there a few months ago, it was beautiful and sunny every day, i guess you guys just do that for the tourists. :D BTW, I'm going to be visiting my brother again late in June, can we get some seattle people together to go to champs go-kart or something?

ronin,

I'm a mechanical engineer. Don't want to throw out my whole resume but I have about 8 years experience designing plastic parts, mostly for water filtration but also for medical. You don't of a good technical recruiter or two out there do you?

As far as the scenery being fake, nice try I've been there too often to buy that. As for the rain, I found that heading into the Cascades cured every need for sunshine that I had.

that would absolutely not be a problem. heck, what a great reason to get the local boys together here in the first place. the only thing would be coordinating it such that the chance is best for the most people to make it here. maybe we should discuss this a little ;)

nate, hmmm, perhaps there might be use for your skills in the aviation industry here. there are tons of subcontractors that supply Boeing, and with the new 7E7 being built here at Paine Field, (about 2 miles from my house) there should be a need for someone with your talents. keep looking!

No problem, i'll PM you with the specific dates and we can go from there.

Nate,

Give these guys a call:

PDS Technical Services
12101 Tukwila International Blvd BLDG C
TUKWILA, WA 98168 - 2569
(206) 763-2840

I've used them twice now and had good luck. They'll most certainly be placing contractors on the 7E7 program (either with Boeing, their risk-sharing partners or sub-contractors). These would not be direct hire positions, contract only...which is good because rates are fairly high right now. $55/hr for design, $65/hr and up for stress weenies.

Robin Curtis is the one to speak with. Tell her I sent you and we'll split the finders fee.

Sorry for the hijack...

Can we take this back off topic to the photos? ;)
