Filmed amidst great secrecy in early May before the pool re-opened, the stunt was masterminded by Bickers, the team that has worked on many a Bond film. Ken Norman, chairman of Chipping Norton Lido Ltd, commented, "Jeremy Clarkson had kindly offered to host another Auction of Promises in 2005, so The Lido management team asked if there was anything we could do in return! Jeremy has always wanted to recreate the urban legend concerning Keith Moon driving a car into his swimming pool. After talks with Bickers, and the Top Gear production team at the BBC, The Lido's management were satisfied that the stunt could be achieved safely and without any damage being done, and filming went ahead."
