Dusted by a Nissan!

Merging onto the 55 from the 405.

He punches it, I downshift and punch it.

He pulls away from me like I'm standing still! Seriously. This thing went like a sport bike.

Note the steering wheel is on the wrong side. Hmmm.

Here's the view that I think he can show to most cars.

From what I've heard, you can buy a few nice 911s for the cost of one of those in the US. One of those kind of neat things you see on the roads in So. Cal. that you probably don't see much elsewhere.

stevej37 02-29-2004 02:19 PM

Probably has a Nitrous kit under the hood. Very common with a car like that. As far as the cost of the car...would think it would be 1/4 of the price of a 911 when both are new.

ZOA NOM 02-29-2004 02:26 PM

And he's still driving a "Nissan". Thanks, but no thanks.

moazam 02-29-2004 02:26 PM

Uhhhh!!!!!

Isnt that a Nissan Skyline?!?!?!

Those are NOT cheap, new or used. Very expensive, and VERY fast.

The 1999 version was $90k, wieghs 3395 lbs, does 0-60 in 5.1sec and has AWD to top it all off. I think they are also Twin Turbos...

Very rare in America. Some guy either has a pretty convincing replica, or he spent big $$$ to import it to USA.

SpeedracerIndy 02-29-2004 02:26 PM

Is it a skyline? If so, those are pretty quick cars. And easy to modify to get a lot of hp out of them. From the looks of that one, I would be willing to bet there are some modifications to the engine. I think they are pretty expensive too.

Langers 02-29-2004 02:30 PM

Didn't know you guys couldn't get Skylines in the US. They're very easy to modify...you can get 600bhp without opening the engine up.

Jim Sims 02-29-2004 02:30 PM

The engine is 2.6 liter, dual overhead cam, 24 valve, twin turbo charged, and
intercooled producing 276 hp @ 6800rpm, capable of handling over 600 hp without
internal modifications

kstar 02-29-2004 02:38 PM

I think that is the "Skyline R34 GTR".

FWIW.

Kurt

Brian, the same car was parked in front of Sugar Shack (H.B) early this moring, the driver is a professional Japanese "Drifting"
Champion here doing an exhibition, so don't feel bad...... chris

OT, but what kind of camera did you use? Such little motion blur. The thing looks like it's parked in the middle of the freeway.

And keep your eyes on the road! ;)

yelcab1 02-29-2004 03:02 PM

You picked on the wrong Ricer this morning.

The last Skyline I saw was in the show room of Nissan at Ginza District. I drooled, and so did everybody else. Metallic Blue, sparking twin turbos, gorgeous and extremely high performance. It was even rare in Japan.

Cool thread...

LOL, huh:confused:

I've been infatuated with Skyline's since I was young and have ridden in 3 that have been legalized for road-use here in the states by a company called Motorex. After studying abroad in a few years I plan to buy one and bring it back with me:)

cegerer 02-29-2004 03:10 PM

The Skyline was one of the cars that got smoked at the Nurburgring by a Cayenne ....... ;)

I'm sure that the driver of the Skyline thrives on this type of ignorance from Porsche drivers. ;)

sc 02-29-2004 04:01 PM

That's a Skyline GT-R.

Yes , its a pretty qiuck car. 300+ h.p. STOCK! Twin turbo, 6 cylinder and about $90,000 US.

Beware- not all street racers just have large mufflers and wings. Some of these cars have some serious HP.

BURN-BROS 02-29-2004 04:16 PM

Well at least it wasn't a normal ricer! Just be glad that you were taken to the wood shed by no ordinary car.

D Hanson 02-29-2004 04:16 PM

Cegerer, did you say a Cayenne beat a Skyline that beat an older 911. I got to drive a Skyline once. It wasn't stock and it was a serious vehicle. It seems like the owner had spent another $ 30k + on upgrades. I cannot remember the exact figure, but it was an incredible car to drive. Drives and feels very different from our P-Cars. Would be a very tempting car if I played around at the track.

tangerine911e 02-29-2004 04:18 PM

Yep. R34 GTR. There are plenty of those machines running around here is Aust. They go for around A$100,000 second hand (all imported from Japan) over here. Seriously quick.
