Screen shots of an abandoned 100 foot long hovercraft in Florida, which somehow moved 500-600 feet on it's own.

The wife's been away for a year (with visitation...) on an internship far enough away to have her own place. I've got one more week of bachelorhood. To celebrate -- Martinis and Tostinos!!!!

The lake is at 4,600' elevation and frozen over (not solid) in the winter, it's about 42 to 45 degrees late summer... the outside temp was 80 in the shade, warm enough to do this:

But not for long... swimming in mountain lakes tends to change your voice pitch.

porsche4life 08-23-2010 06:36 PM

That lake would be fun to dive in a Dry Suit....

Another view along the trail... about a 2,000' drop down to a lower lake, I'm just not a good enough at cliff diving to attempt this one.

The Cascades can be a bit unforgiving.

Where is it?

Hard to believe it freezes solid unless it's only a few feet deep.

Shoot, that elevation would be 600-1000 feet underground in Denver.

Lakes freeze over, but only the top foot or two during a really cold winter.

There are lakes here at 11-13k feet that don't freeze solid.

Anyway, beautiful.

Tcar, absolutely correct, freezes over with many feet of snow on top... not solid.
This lake is well over 100' deep and has some very nice trout swimming around.

The area is south of Steven's Pass, highway 2 about 16 miles.
