The most bizarre plane in the house. The XF-85 "parasite". I would like to meet the few test pilots who volunteered to be dropped out of a flying bomber in this comically small thing and then to try and re-attach to said bomber in 1948. Incredible.

man I gotta go there

when we went to pick up my car, we went and visited my brother's long time flame at her house in Portland, former home of some author. She had this dog that she claimed was vicious, only would allow like 5 people in her house without attacking them. We are get there as her son is going to put the dog in the back of her truck. The dog was totally friendly to my brother and me. She was so astonished she took pictures of us sitting on the floor with the totally calm dog.

She is a florist, the orchid was for my Mom

tchanson...

The HU-16... is a Grumman Albatross, I think. Doesn't look like that.

Your pic looks like a B-47, maybe?

Boeing: History -- Products - Boeing B-47 Stratojet

Fantastic pics... is that in Omaha?

Edit: Still trying to figure out the 'cruise missle' looking thing... TomCat?

You're correct on both counts. Got my file names mixed up. There is an (unpictured) Albatross on the floor next to the B-47 pictured. You can get lost in that place.

Museum is in Ashland just off I-80 between Omaha and Lincoln. Definitely worth the the visit.

Thanks... was there years ago; wasn't that well populated then.

Need to go back.
Really miss driving all day, all the way across scenic Nebraska.

Some have issues with the pet content in this thread -- don't worry, I have both of their model releases...

Closed on this place today. Helluva view but I haven't figured out how to capture it. Looking north over Espanola to Taos, NM.

Are these chime blisters on all SR-71's? Sensors? Do they create lift?

Model I just built to study the structure of a Yurt, will have a green roof and straw bale walls covered in cement stucco. Will be out in the woods, a cool place to do yoga.

Not as exciting as bugs or jets, but these two photos were taken in rural Germany about 45 minutes west of Dresden. Can you help identify what the crops are? The first two look like a standard wheat crop, but I'm not sure about the third. Any help appreciated.

Good guesses, but I think that rye is pretty close to looking like wheat with the seed at the top of the stalk. I think oats have a more leafy look to them. If I had seen these alone rather than in acres by the hundreds, my guess would have been that it was something you'd only find at a florist shop as filler.

Here's another one:

Headed out there tomorrow, so maybe will take a few other closeups and/or get a sample.
