Nice shots John - really like the Paris pics. There is a heck of a lot to be said for the older technology that proves itself again and again! I learned photography with a 4x5 Speed Graphic way back when and I still remember the fun I had shooting with Tri-X, Plus-X and the wide variety of resolutions/look available to the user from the equally wide variety of small to large grain film available. Sure don't hear much about "grain" nowadays do we?

True.
I have a P&S digital and am thinking about getting a high-end DSLR - that can use my manual Nikon lenses. But I have the most fun with good old wet B&W. Grooving in the darkness with good music over forming images - way more fun than spending yet another chunk of my life in front of the computer. Unfortunately, I'm losing access to the university darkroom with this move, so my B&W is going to be pretty limited until I can find another community darkroom or set one up in the new basement. Maybe time to get that used D1X.

Pics taken at Atlantis last week.
Notice the huge jew fish in the 1st pic. ![]() ![]() Dinner anyone? ![]() ![]() All pics were taken with a Casio Exlim my favorite pocket camera. We left the D-50 home because we did not want to pack it this time. That casio takes awesome pics for its price. ($260) I can even hold open the lens for night exposure pics, like this: ![]() I could have held the lens open longer for this one. ![]()

Pagani Zonda, Mercedes CLK-GTR and Porsche 959 Sport - not the best shots, but cars worth a few photos. All at the POC event at California speedway on Saturday.

Do the background in focus. It lets the viewer know what the theodolite is looking at and illustrates the distance. With the picture focused on the forground, you loose that information. JMHO ...and you might even consider getting a little closer to the surveyor so he is even more out of focus in the forground.

Except in this picture, you want to focus on the front sight, not the distant target.

Unless that was your prom, I don't think that you took those photos.
