I always check the household goods dropped off at the local landfill when I'm there dumping stuff from my projects. Here's an unopened container of liquid fertilizer concentrate I recently scored.....of 'historical' value, due to it's 1988 vintage.

I'm sure the product is still good, because it's unopened and it's still entirely in liquid form. Sometimes when liquid chemicals get old they form solids and then the stuff is kaput.

The 12-6-6 analysis is a fairly popular one and because of the liquid formulation, I will probably just use it for my foliage plants.

OK. I just saw how smooth the bore was and thought it was man made - like for a water main.

random pics that YOU have taken.......

Guess the jack-apes at the county DOT will now take me seriously since the road has catastrophically failed at this point. Excessive airport runoff allowed to free flow down the hill and cascade across the road eroding the hillside downslope and upslope our property. Was in the bad weather till midnight trying to keep up with the onslaught of mud and debris flooding our property.

Upslope hillside between the road and airport.

Water path across road

12-13' hillside failure with another 10' beginning to crack away

Roadway undermining

Every bit of 15' straight down of hillside washed away and onto our property.

Every year since 2001 I've pointed this out to them, each year they tell me I have not a clue to what I'm talking about.

Typical county government....

This homeowner is my hero.....installing a new metal (galvalume) roof....over his existing shingles. I was on my way to a job site and saw what was happening so stopped and had a brief chat with him. This is exactly what I'm planning to do for my roof next fall/winter.

There are plenty of venders who will supply metal panels at whatever size(s), quantities, and color, you need.....delivered to your door step.

Pull the permit yourself as the homeowner.

He used 1x4's as furring strips - screwed into the joists with 3" deck screws. Then attach the metal panels using appropriate fasteners.

My situation is similar to this fellows.....single story with relatively low sloping roof...except mine's a simple gable and his is a hip roof. My roof is 100% symmetrical like a piece of notebook paper folded down the center - and that's it.

Total cost for materials should end up approx. $3K at the most. I could probably do it all myself but I will rustle up a helper. I built a 12'x30' shelter using these panels myself last year...no biggie if you have the tools and time.

Anyway.....here's the pic I took of his house and the project well underway....
