Nice pics guys....flowers by Bugs....race cars by Aragorn....and the pelican in flight by Scott...

Couple from today...(ying and yang).....Florida Box turtle who lives on my property did a drive by as i was working on the driveway...came out of the bush....cruised on by....then back into the bush. I gave him a little shower as he passed my way....

Then a souvenir left on my armrest from a bird that perched on my half rolled down window while I was at a store later in the day.

Keep smiling..... SmileWavy

Baz,

Nice FL.Box Turtle.... also well played on the matching Croc's too. He probably thought it was fellow box and wanted to hang for a spell. Look on the bright side on the bird do, at least it wasn't one of those pelicans you've shown us that live in your area.[emoji6]

The wife's Amazon package was delivered today. When I opened it up(she said it was ok), my initial thought was that I was going to have my man-card revoked. Then I realized it was the replacement hose for the Dyson vacuum that I broke this past weekend. LOL

It's my stupid sense of humor again

This little guy was munching down on one of the plants I installed at a local project I recently completed. It's called a Saddleback Caterpillar and those hairs have a chemical on them which will burn the heck out of your skin - so don't ever let them touch you! Thing is they hang out on the underside of the leaves so you rarely see them before it's too late....

Cool looking critter, too bad he's bellied up to the wrong buffet.

Maybe Hawaiian Ti Red Sister Plant or Canna lilies?

Hey Baz,

In keeping up with your critter, I found this little guy on our deck. Never seen one before. Not as sinister as yours but interesting nonetheless.

Thanks, I haven't really done that much since I live in a pretty horribly light polluted area. Fortunately, the moon is a pretty easy subject, but anything else is tough, tough, tough.

I actually like it in an abstract kind of way.

I fully understand the light pollution issue. Back in my school days of the 80's, my dad took my brother and I to a friend of his who was also an amateur astronomer. I say amateur, he was one of five amateur astronomers invited to Hawaii to view Haleys comet, he was that good. Anyway, we all loaded up in the car to visit his personal observatory he built in the foothills above Folsom Lake at one in the morning. It was unbelievably amazing the telescope he designed and built with hand polished mirrors and German gearing. I don't recall the exact size but I think it was 12 or 15' and was something like 18 or 20" in diameter, but I could be totally off base. It was monstrous though. His observatory dome could be rotated by hand it was that well balanced

His pictures were fabulous. It was the first time I ever saw our sister Galaxy with a pair of high power and quality binoculars. The best way I can describe it is that it looked like someone placed a cotton ball out in space and pulled the ends apart to stretch it out. It still has to be one of the most beautiful things I have ever gazed upon. He showed us this one shot it took him literally all night to shoot due to the aperture settings, then literally in the last 5 minutes of the exposure, an airliner flies through the shot. It left some very interesting light trails. Back in the day he was successful in getting the local mercury vapor street lights changed out to a different type conducive to night photography. So he said.

Yeah, it's tough to catch the moon with a phone, I've tried several times. I'd love to do astrophotography, but between the light pollution and the fact that I don't have a tracking mount, it's tough.

The easy subject.

These were both taken when we were having an extra super moon. One of these days, I want to catch the moon as it's still between some buildings, but that only happens two times a year, I would assume near the equinoxes, equiniis?

The moon over downtown. Another pain, getting the buildings exposed nicely without killing the moon. This one still has the moon blown out, but overall, the shot seems ok.

The Moon and Venus over downtown just before sunrise. It's just about impossible with a digital camera to get the dark side of the moon without having the sliver WAY overexposed. I'm guessing this worked because of the not quite dark, but also not quite light conditions.

The Moon and Venus at about 10am, 7 Dec, 2015.

Those are really cool!!!! Thanks for posting them. Looking at your one shot of the moon and Venus, kinda looks like what I'm seeing tonight.

Your last shot looks like something you would see in a scene from Star Trek.

The moon is a cool subject to shoot. During the last Harvest Moon, a coworker was checking it out with a super zoom via a FLIR product at night. For the briefest of moments, you can see a rather large object zip across the face at, let's just say at an extreme high speed. You can almost convince yourself it has a vertical stabilizer. Anyway, high speed and no heat was coming from this thing. I was thinking the ISS but who knows. It was big and fast. The craters on the moon looked really cool with the zoom too.

Really makes you say.... "hhummmm"[emoji848][emoji848][emoji848][emoji848]

Mounted a couple low voltage LED uplights this morning at a friend's house I'm doing some work at.

These lights have bodies made of PVC so no corrosion issues. Also, I used brackets to mount them onto the actual tree trunks so they are out of the way of maintenance equipment that could potentially cause damage to them.

While today I used green colored bodies....I also have these in black....which may look better the way these are mounted. Not sure.

One of the lights I mounted to shine horizontally - which will create an interesting effect.

At some point I hope to mount some bromeliads and/or orchids on the trees and will likely re-position the lights as well as add a couple more somewhere....maybe even use color changing bulbs....your imagination is the only limiting factor involved... :)
