Worthy cause for sure. We've been members for many years, just don't go as often as we used to.

Thanks, Bugs! SmileWavy

I'm sure there's a bunch of folks here who know as much or more than I do about horticulture and such but appreciate the respect, sir.

But it does seem like it's a popular and shared passion among many here so maybe a good idea at that!

Took these this morning - I have a very cute young squirrel who has trained me into giving him snacks! The usual fare is peanuts but today he also was fed a couple small apple wedges. :p

My first new motorbike- 1979 Honda CX500, water cooled, shaft drive:

My 1st new tent- 1981 REI Half dome, my buddy Steve shaking out the forest droppings

Life was a bit simpler then... now I have to choose between 4 tents, and it's time for another motorbike, choices are many!

Oh, and short shorts were all you could buy, everything else were long pants.

I enjoyed my CX650E, until it and I got flattened by a geriatric priest who turned left into me. His car was filled with blue-haired ladies, which must have been a distraction. I flew right over his car. It was a nice bike.

This old mill was used in the opening scenes of the 1939 movie Gone With The Wind. It is in North Little Rock Arkansas.

I've been enjoying the aura when it rains even if it means there is one car I won't be driving today.

That's stunning. Just added to my list of things to do next time I'm in Little Rock...

Kayak trip to a mountain lake that has had one of the largest draw downs in many years... my favorite playground!

Over 100' of water MIA, likely out in the Salish Sea

Paddling through the tree tops
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1524681216.jpg

Appears to be the hind paw of a Cougar... probably 3-5 days before we showed up
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1524681216.jpg

Image taken just after 9:30 pm, half moon lighting and a 20 second exposure
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1524681216.jpg

We had to cover a little over a mile and about 700' elevation change on foot, my buddy Karl decided to try carrying his pack AND Kayak at the same time.
That's about 80 lbs total, not bad for a 66 year old mountain goat!
Check out the giant bumble bee just above the bow, probably thinking mmmm, something that big and yellow must be loaded with pollen.

Does this kayak hat make my butt look small?
(God I hope so... don't feel like you have to answer)

Threading 15' of beautiful mahogany through a few of the switchbacks was interesting. Bouncing off trees and rocks is not recommended.

Boat dock high and dry, so different that the full pool in summer... not surprising that we did not see another soul out on the lake or any of the campsites me paddled by, it's a huge effort to get in and out this time of year.
Trees poking out of the lake are under 100' of water 9 months of the year.

My daughter [2.5 years old at the time] had my camera and took this picture. I had no idea until I downloaded the picts. This was about 9-years ago.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1524689803.jpg

Thanks Joel!!
We do live in an amazing place, I'm still working on low light shots and time lapse is great, seeing wind, weather and lighting patterns change quickly amuses me greatly. (Helps to be easy to amuse)

Vincent, nope... shes a Pygmy kit boat, "Goldeneye" (replaced by newer designs).
Wire it together, seal, fiberglass and apply spendy varnish.
I did not build this one, got it for about half normal costs and it needed a refinish, I thought hey! I can do that and I'd always wanted to try kayaking. Turns out I like it.
15' long and 39 lbs... plus it slips easily through the water. Build process is referred to as "stitch and glue".

I always wondered why there wasn't some sort of wheel mechanism on canoes as well. Portaging them can get heavy with gear and supplies.
This is a simple pic drawn by billy but here is one idea:
