Found this guy/gal hiding in the shade of my box scraper on the back of my tractor. Herded him/her off into the bushes. It was pretty upset & did a lot of buzzing for a short while until it settled down & just wanted to get away.

Then received a weather alert for Nevada 30 minutes later

Seventy five years ago, from 15 June to 9 July 1944, the Battle of Saipan was raging in the Pacific during WWII.
In May of 1967, while visiting Saipan in the Mariana Islands, I saw this old Japanese locomotive stuffed and mounted on a hillside south of the town of Garapan.

Here is a photo I found of the same locomotive while in service hauling sugar cane from the fields to the sugar mill sometime in the 1930s.

That’s funny,
Our friends who we stayed with in Brisbane had huge green tree frogs that would occupy their PVC drain pipes. They would then use the resonation the pipes would provide to magnify their nightly croak-fest.

The story goes that Ernest Hemingway, ever the lover of the sea and sailing, was befriended by many a skipper in his time. Ship captains believed 6 toed cats (polydactyls) were lucky, and one such captain gave one to Hemingway. Today there are nearly 60 descendants of that gift-cat living at his old home on KW:
