Enterprise - the original concept test mule. Like most space things at the Smithsonian its the dirty version they build before they then produce the flight ready one - complete in every way.

This one has never been to space but did all the original glide tests, released from the back of a 747 plus much more.

These shuttle things are huge - no wonder they light such a big candle to throw them up there.

Just as I got up to the Angeles National Forest, I see the clouds rolling over the highway. I saw the pull off, then I saw the cop - V1 did not detect the cop at all.
I was lucky that I wanted to take lots of pics on this trip. :)

I was very unlucky 35 miles later when my DME (I'm guessing) died.
I was stranded overnight due to AAA's incompetence, 6000ft up and only two brand new Lloyd's mats fresh out of the box to use as a blanket in 35º weather.
Rough night.

Off to the mechanic tomorrow morning.
