My 1 year old is upgrading from mice to wabits.

So, some Canadians showed up for a Party last Fall and are still here! They just got up this morning, headed for a walk on my beach when I snapped this photo.

Canadian geese have no idea when quiet hours are. Earlier this year I was up in some mountain lakes and the CG's would fly, honk, land, honk, then honk some more about how great that last flight was.
Annoying at 2 am with a full moon. More Milo His love and command of sticks fades at the creek... he prefers rocks because they splash so well. 8 months old and full of energy, my arm wore out before he did. Set up a Gopro shooting a photo every 2 seconds and caught him moving water http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629208610.jpg Sometimes moving water from within http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629208610.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629208610.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629208610.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629208610.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629208610.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629208610.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629208610.jpg |

Outstanding in the field. My son and I are in my grandparents homestead 1/4 in Northern Saskatchewan. The same people who bought the land from my grandma still own it today. One caution in throwing rocks for dogs is that they wear out their teeth quickly! Good looking pup! |

I appreciate that! We are very cautious and make sure they are thrown out of his reach, he's not really interested in the rocks, for him biting the splash is where it's at! He's my buddies pup, (my god-dog) living the life on 7 acres with a river running through it. Hot days that's where he wants to go, and keep the chickens in line. On land it's always all about sticks, in the water he will go after sticks but loves the splash. Signalling a right turn http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629226960.jpg Right turn complete, downstream it is! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629226960.jpg |
Covid Father's Day: My lovely bride said she go anywhere I wanted - even the places she'd typically not be that into...
So I'd been wanting to take a Atlas-Obscura-inspired drive up and around the nearby San Andreas Fault. It runs just a dozen or so mile northeast of our home, and for years I'd been wanting to go exploring up there. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629227867.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629227867.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629227867.JPG The "Devil's Punchbowl" - another interesting outcropping of the seismic activity in the area. Also a great hike! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629227867.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629227867.JPG Evidence of the San Andreas and it's terra-forming! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629227867.JPG The California Aqueduct - yes, it carries its life-giving elixir across the San Andreas many times... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629227867.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629227867.JPG I'd heard of Lost Lake most of my life, but had never been there. It takes a bit of orr-road trails to get there, and I was rather excited to see it. Technically it's not a lake but a "sag pond", a "body of water that has collected in a depression formed between the two sides of an active strike-slip fault zone. They are usually small and narrow, and lay lengthwise directly over the fault. Lost Lake is supposedly “bottomless” and fed from deep underground springs that rise up through the fault. During wildfire season, it's sometimes used as a water source for water-dropping helicopters, and locals claim it's never been able to be drained. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629227867.JPG My beautiful bride, great hiker and always a trooper, was more than just a little amused when she finally saw the great lake I'd been talking about for years... lol http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629227867.JPG |
Ps: I wanna be reincarnated as Skip.

Nice shots David of San Andreas and beyond, thanks for sharing the adventure!
Um, Byron, are they injecting or removing fluid? Shoot! I'm probably due for a refill. My Nephew's eldest daughter is out here visiting from Maryland, PNW weather delivered it's best midsummer effort- Cool, cloudy and while we were out getting a few miles in on the beach we watched a fog bank grow, recede and them come on by for a visit. Much Forting around, Ft. Ebey, Ft. Casey to be precise. Lighting was sooo flat I resorted to solarizing a few photos via Photoshop http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629519187.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629519187.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629519187.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629519187.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629519187.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629519187.jpg My lovely wife and Niece out rock hunting... Great pics Daepp. When I was flying out of San Diego we would fly the SA Fault in the remote sections. Easy to see from the air, looked like a scar..
Nothing earth shattering from me (see what I did there). My son got home yesterday with his girlfriend. He and I spent the past few hours mending horse fences, headed back out soon. Not a bad day for August in Maryland. He is an avid bow hunter and set up shop in the back yard. His deer target is leaning against the tree. His groupings, starting close and getting out to 30 yards, were amazing. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629563486.jpg For you sharp-eyed folks, mowing is the feature event tomorrow:D |
