Uninvited intruder

Broke 5 of 12 panes of glass and thoughtfully spread them into 5 different rooms
Hasty patch job at 1 am in the dark

This was about a month ago, power went out around 9 pm, so upstairs we went.
around 11:00 as I was trying to drift off to sleep a Cottonwood shed it's "E" for evil branch into the kitchen sky wall...

First reaction was at least a couple rather bad words. down the stairs with a headlamp I went only to see broken glass everywhere.
More bad words.
2 hours later we had 95% cleaned up and a temporary patch in place.
Scampered to the front of the house every time another big gust came through.
it had calmed down a lot by the time we decided it was patched at least for the moment.
A very good thing neither of us were downstairs when it hit... let alone standing at the sink.

I love almost all trees... I make an exception to a certain Cottonwood that I'm going to battle with, it's in a greenbelt 3' outside my property line.
This community has a "greenbelt management committee" that I've approached before about dropping this thing due to personal and property risks to no avail.
I have additional facts now to convince them the liability has outweighed the fact it's a "healthy" tree.
It's got to go!!!

Cascade Pass back in 2014.
Late summer hikes are amazing, I avoided this area for many years due to it's popularity and "crowds"... after going up this time I changed my opinions about it.

It's not at all difficult to find a very peaceful spot to soak up the beauty of the surreal surrounding North Cascade peaks with names such as Mt. Formidable, Snowking, Sinister, Eldorado and Mixup peaks all in the 8K and higher zones.
Hearing and seeing avalanches near and far away always gives me an adrenaline charge... I admit to being addicted to mountain wanderings.
I've returned twice since then... I still crave more!

This year's big tree. Every year one of my customers buys a big tree. And we deliver it to their house.

Wow Skip!
Sorry to hear and see that. No fun when trees in houses happen. Many years ago, I lost an uncle who was living in a cabin near the Kings Nation Forest east of the Visalia area in the valley. During a snow storm, and oak went over, hit a rather large pine that in turn landed on his cabin. We do not really know how it happened, but we surmise that his was killed by the tree landing on his bedroom, but it also ruptured the propane tank and started a fire. A mess to say the least.

Trees near houses always makes me jumpy and uncomfortable.

Hope to hear that your repairs go smoothly. I know here in Placerville, CA, we are in a high fire risk area after realignment. My State Farm agent who is a major TOOL, has told me that if I even call the office to inquire about a claim on the house, no matter who is at fault, that I will get cancelled. As I’ve mentioned, he is a total jackass.

I've known folks that could drive and park a large truck as if they were driving a Smart car. I had a buddy that could drive through a parking lot in a suburban like he had 10' clearance despite it being more like inches.

I've also known folks that shouldn't be allowed to drive large trucks because they never had any idea how big the truck was or how much clearance they had. They seemed to always be afraid.

We're having the kitchen done. The floor getting sanded

Here, it's been stained an the finish just applied (still very wet). The finish is "satin".

baby birds from last summer

small copperhead (maybe 12") from the driveway this past summer

wasp drug a spider 7' up a wall and into a crack. The spider was going to be baby wasp food.

termites create these tunnels around grass and stuff in the property.
