On to Molokai via a well used Cessna Caravan

One of Hawaii's biggest white-ish sand beaches is on Molokai, west end. 3 miles and 100 yards wide- would have been a mini Waikiki is the locals had not fought off development

About the only visible home from the beach, we often had no one else in sight. walked the whole 3 miles in a couple sections.
My favorite beach as of this visit.
Winds were pretty crazy for a couple days. we found sheltered areas to explore.
The benefit was that when the winds subsided the high surf continued, I've been to a lot of beaches from Cali to Vancouver Island and many, many on the Hawaiian islands. I've never seen spray get tossed as high as here, absolutely fantastic!

Dixie Maru beach has a sordid past, lots of Axis deer are either shot here or wash up on this beach. Probably at least 50 skulls scattered and collected in the area

Several areas in the Maunaloa area are skeletons of a 70's-80's boom that the locals put a stop to. Molokai Ranch corporation owned 70% of the island at one point. Locals stopped , sabotaged or blocked efforts to put in luxury homes. As one resident stated on camera "Million dollar homes come with million dollar *********s"

Pool cat on patrol

Fantastic meal at the Hotel Molokai's Ohana grill, the garlic chicken was wonderous!

Between the acacia thorns going clear through a pair of Tevas and poking you and these guys washed and blown way up the beach you do have to watch your step

Ventured off to the East end as far as the road goes. That section starts out pretty decent, massive rains and flooding were still obvious along route 460 and 450.
Drove through running water in a few spots too, a foot or less deep.
Road narrows dramatically, single lane bridges and then just very rugged, narrow and sharp blind corners.

^I believe Cali has gotten enough snow^
Ski areas here are expecting another foot of snow this weekend.

Once a golf course, now a field of yellow flowers

Our steed awaits.
Mokulele airlines just bought a couple small Saab jets and made a splash in the news about them. Both were in AOG status, one at Molokai and one on Maui.
They would double the seats available. Our flights both got rescheduled due to broken Saabs. Back on a Cessna Caravan!

Landing also got delayed, we circled the SE tip of Oahu 3 times-a couple F15's had right of way

Good morning Oahu!

Seemed like an appropriate celestial view since we saw whales breaching and blowing many times on this trip

And of course, our 6 pound (self appointed jungle kitty) thinks he can take that bad boy on. Needless to say…….someone is about to get his arse kicked. He’ll be traumatized for life if that happens.

Ya got that right. But that is because of the people, not the city.

I just watched your 150 Year Old Dulcimer video. Good work Zeke.
