She smelled great. Superhuman, she was.....

I went camping this weekend at New Brighton Beach in Capitola, Cali. The weather was perfect!
First pic is Moss Landing as seen from the cliffs in Capitola. (guessing 35 miles crows fly)

The sunsets were no slouch either. The Capitola pier in the back ground.

LOL, we had a VAX for quite a whle - eventually I put it on ebay "$50, you pick up!" and sure enough, some guy came and hauled off like 800lbs of computer pieces, tapes and manuals...

Scanned 1994 pic from the Tulum site, Mayan ruins, in the Yucatan part of Mexico (near Cancun). It's an incredible place and there's some awesome snorkeling and stuff nearby as well.

wow someone else still runs VAX/VMS too? I thought we were the only ones that still had them. Do they get backed up to reel tapes :)

Our last two should be gone within a few months after the VMS to UNIX project is done.

Very cool pic. I've had a Golden Retriever and a Chocolate Lab; this brings back a lot of nice memories.

The native user interface was a command shell, with many commands very similar to DOS. In fact, the same guy was a principal architect of VMS and Windows NT.

The later OpenVMS versions had an X-Windows GUI but our machine wouldn't run that - it only had 4MB of RAM and a whopping 300MB hard drive IIRC (which actually was quite huge for its day.) We used VT220/VT320 dumb terminals. The CPU ran at a 1MHz clock speed. They also had cartridge tape drives as well as the 9-track reels. Neither of those actually held much data.
