Happy Father's day gents!
I came downstairs this morning and thought there was a bat on our front door. Polyphemus Moth, part of the Silk moth family. They grow up to a 6" wingspan and eat almost any plant as a caterpillar. One on my nephews is visiting from the east coast and brought his wife and three of their five kids, the other two are working and couldn’t make it.

February 2017, solo back country ski trip starting where the North Cascades Highway is closed every year.
I've got to rent or borrow a snow machine for this 35 mile section of mountain road some day, I only got maybe 5 miles on skis and didn't see anything other than tracks and glorious views. There was a good view down to Ross lake where I stopped, started getting this eerie feeling something was watching me. Alrighty then, back to the truck. At full pool that's Cougar Island, one of my favorite camping spots.
