Great to see you out and about Marv!!

Colorado wanderings, first time visiting more than the Denver airport in this state.
Had a trip set up last year and came down with Covid.
Reset this year and it’s fantastic!

Three nights in Estes Park exploring the Rockies and acclimating, our home is at a whopping 210’ above sea level so hanging out at 7500’ to just shy of 12k is waaay different.
Took it easy but we both had boarder line altitude sickness at 11k that signaled time to get down, not funky.

Lunch moved inside, the lightning storm was great entertainment. Winds were bouncing our rental SUV for added effect 👍

Fall colors are just starting to pop

St. Catherine’s on the rock

Lilly lake, didn’t see any at all

Yoiks!
By jove that is odd!

Estes park has some odd ones too-

Grand Junction for a couple nights, the drive was beautiful at times and white knuckled at times, flash flood warnings in effect and deluges. 75 mph speed limit on 70 would have been insane, more like 40 and emergency blinkers watching the fog line.
Colorado Monument park in the morning and Grand Mesa tour in the afternoon. It’s reputed to be the largest Mesa on the planet, over 300 alpine lakes and 10k+ elevation

Grand Mesa views

^^^ We've come to rely on these stupid things so much. I had an 07 Jaguar with an early GPS that didn't show some newer main roads in the area. I'd be driving and all of a sudden I'm floating in no man's land on the GPS and it was disorienting!

Alta Ghost town about 30 minutes from Telluride- very rough forest service road but an amazing collection of buildings and remnants of late 1800 to early 1900 mining

Mesa Verde- took the Balcony house tour, some tricky ladders and a tunnel to squeeze through, I knew a tub of crisco would come in handy 😀

Royal Gorge, the quartz walls are beautiful
