Way back, dope came in 2 sizes, > Nickle bag 1/2 oz $5 > Dime bag 1 oz $10. Not that I would have any personal knowledge.

So a dime bag is a lid? Or were lids a different kind of drug? This is so confusing -- how did druggies ever figure this out?

why do you think we had to take the drugs?

a dime bag is a $10 bag. If it was crappy pot, it could be a lid (ounce), but likely would be less. "Nickel" and "dime" refer to price, not weight. A "lid" however refers to weight (and ounce), and would be priced according to quality and supply. For instance, in-season (fall), prices tend to drop, while spring/summer can see higher prices due to decreased supply. This of course depends on imports (as opposed to domestic production).

This is further complicated by alternative ways of measuring things. For instance, Thai sticks were usually sold by the stick, although weight would also come into play (but the stick weight would not be compensated for). As quality rose, so did prices, and personal consumption was usually measured at the gram level, as a "lid" would/could costs hundreds of dollars.

Ok that's it - this thread definitely wins the award for the most entertaining thread-of-the-day.

Joe Clarke, nostatic and k911sc, et al - you guys should do stand-up.

Nice to see a quasi-serious topic crushed into the oblivion of the moderately humorous. The OT forum is far too important to be taken seriously. (to steal from a famous flaming fabulous fag - can you name him?).

Purry, your great difficulty was not posting a really serious topic. Had it been honestly thought-provoking, we would have thought about it.

As it is, units of measure applicable to items covered under the UCMJ Article 112a are far more interesting and thought provoking.

This also provides an insight into NoStatic's thought processes, and explains why I'm so rotten at Zen. Not nearly enough money invested in dimebags in the '60s, clearly. Anyone ever figure out "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds?"

Just for my own edification, do I want to know what a Thai Stick is? Were they really Thai, or did someone just pick that name 'coz they thought it'd be cool? Seems like it'd be a lot more expensive to manufacture everything in Thailand and then import it like that. But the economy of drugs never made a lot of sense to me, I guess...

This thread has gotten way cool; it started out pretty stupid, and ended up being "Dan's Little Drug Education." Boy, I could make up for not having been alive in the '60s, all at once!! Awesome!

Thai sticks were (if authentic), seedless pot grown in Thailand (alledgedly...it could be any "good" pot) that was "tied" to a stick. Kinda like "pot sate".
