270 to win

34 bush GA, IN, KY
3 kerry VT

no surprises, so far.

yellow911turbo 11-02-2004 04:19 PM

SC and VA have closed the polls but with the votes still to count, it is too close to call.

bryanthompson 11-02-2004 04:22 PM

When do the polls in FL, NY, VT, and NH close?

yellow911turbo 11-02-2004 04:23 PM

from what i saw earlier, almost all of the states were 7-7:30 pm

yellow911turbo 11-02-2004 04:25 PM

the popular vote so far is:
512K - bush
386k - kerry
3.8k - nader

yellow911turbo 11-02-2004 04:33 PM

ohio is coming up. the polls just closed there but it may be some time before enough precincts have totaled up the votes. tom brokaw just stated that no republican president has won w/out winning ohio. guiliani is on nbc saying that he hopes bush wins.

bryanthompson 11-02-2004 04:34 PM

Saw on FoxNews's websites that some FL polls stay open until 8 est... so we have 26 minutes. Nobody had better call FL until then... :grr:

Doesn't matter. The real question is, when do the lawyers pack up and go home?

how many bullets you got?

yellow911turbo 11-02-2004 04:40 PM

well, i haven't heard of any possible legal problems in any states except ohio and PA. it's coming up on 2a.m. here and if i'm staying up till the sun comes up, i better see some solid results!

bryanthompson 11-02-2004 04:42 PM

You all stocked up on caffene?

yellow911turbo 11-02-2004 04:46 PM

a landslide? what gap would be called a landslide? 1.15m to 830k in the popular vote so far. seems like for governor, senate and house democrats are winning a lot even though bush gets the electoral votes.

looks like bush won WV, also.

Yep, he did:
Bush - 39
Kerry - 3

As of 7:48 EST.

This is very interesting - seems voter turn out was at an all time high this year, and basd on the chatter I've seen here, and in the 'real world,' most people have been more in turn to what is going on in our country, politically speaking. 'Bout time the average Joe USA started to get invovled.

yellow911turbo 11-02-2004 04:52 PM

13% of the voters in ohio are first-time voters. highest so far of any state. bush is up 2 points on kerry so far in OH even though it is REALLY early.

They just said on cnn that florida might take up until thursday to count their absentee ballots.

yellow911turbo 11-02-2004 04:58 PM

sure, but maybe there will be enough of a gap so that absentee ballots won't be a factor. what are the chances of that, eh?

bryanthompson 11-02-2004 05:00 PM

Should I keep making gfx from the live FL results? If it's annoying people I'll stop... unless it's just a leftie, then I'll keep doing it :p

seriously, though...

yellow911turbo 11-02-2004 05:01 PM

bush has a 30 point lead in the popular vote. i'm guessing CA will take care of that when the time comes. *shrug* this is the first election that i actually followed this closely so i'm not sure what's normal and what's not.

island911 11-02-2004 05:04 PM

yellow911turbo 11-02-2004 05:08 PM

i was thinking the same thing bryan. maybe i'm annoying someone.

well, anyway...

kerry is now in the lead by winning (with the current count) VT, ME, IL, NJ, MA, CT, DE, MD, DC = 77 el. votes
bush is winning in OK, AL WV, KY, IN, GA, and TN = 66

dd74 11-02-2004 05:10 PM

Funny: CNN has GA. as a Bush state, or did about 30 min. ago.

About the new/unregistered voters: seems as if the press (yet again) conveniently didn't reveal that 50-percent of unpolled new voters planned to vote for Bush. So maybe this new voter thing isn't working to Kerry's advantage.

Hmmm...

bryanthompson 11-02-2004 05:13 PM

Let's hope he keeps this up.

island911 11-02-2004 05:14 PM

yep, NY times updated w/ GA right after I posted.

also note, a million+ votes in Fl . .a 10% spread.

dd74 11-02-2004 05:17 PM

Ahhh...now the real fun begins:

BREAKING NEWS Latest CNN projections indicate Bush will win Alabama, Tennessee, and Oklahoma, and Kerry will win New Jersey, Illinois, D.C., Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland and Massachusetts.

Love this game! Love this game! SmileWavy

bryanthompson 11-02-2004 05:17 PM

What's the deal with Fox and Yahoo calling OK already? Why don't they just throw Nebraska and Texas in with them? Heck, start coloring in Cali for Kerry while they're at it.

I believe NE polls (most CST zones) close at 8:00... I know we're not allowed to release NE numbers until then.

350HP930 11-02-2004 05:18 PM

Kerry is winning the EC at the moment.

dd74 11-02-2004 05:18 PM

Do all polling places close at the same time? It's 7:18 CST, right?

yellow911turbo 11-02-2004 05:21 PM

dd74: in FL and OH, kerry was getting ~60% of voters under 30 which make up the largest % in the group of new voters.

bush is winning FL by about 11 points but it's early...

bush just won NC and the 15 votes just put him in the lead. (taht was my vote, btw. ;))

you hold on to that . . make it your back-drop.

Hey, I though only the popular vote mattered to you guys. :p

azasadny 11-02-2004 05:22 PM

No matter who wins, the good thing is that people are getting out there and voting!

Z-man 11-02-2004 05:22 PM

Polls close different times in each state. OK closed at 7:00CST (8:00pm EST).

There's a nifty map java on foxnews.com where when you hover over the state with the mouse, below the map you get all the info: when the polls close, how many Electoral votes..etc.

dd74 11-02-2004 05:24 PM

So Yellow911turbo, what's Italy think of all this stuff?

Cool!

yellow911turbo 11-02-2004 05:27 PM

dd74, italy is sleeping right now. ;) i'm in the dorms on base, and everyone seems to be sleeping. i'm the only crazy fool that's up following the election, i think. heh.

yellow911turbo 11-02-2004 05:31 PM

bush just took SC, too. 8 more and now it's 89 - 77 with bush in the lead.

yellow911turbo 11-02-2004 05:32 PM

i'm curious... all of you are from different states and have any of you seen any of these retarded voting problems? the absentee ballet was really easy to fill out. ;)

A workmate got roused in Burbank, CA.

Burbank -- go figure.

I heard about armed guards and lots of cops manning voting booths around L.A. and the O.C.

Z-man 11-02-2004 05:34 PM

In one hour and 15 minutes, this thread has had close to 200 views. Wonder if that's happened before?

I've got three browsers opened: foxnews, cnn, and PelicanParts OT. Seems after all we've been through together, it makes sense to keep track of stuff here!

* sniff * I feel a tear coming on... :( Group hug anyone?
