I'd agree that Cool_Chick seems to have a level head. Clearly she has thought through political issues enough to get beyond the oversimple and fallacious assertions offered by conservatives, and arrived at rational, compassionate (liberal) conclusions. It's obvious to me that she's either smarter, or better informed, than most of the folks who post here. Or both.

And I'd agree that my country is more than a little messed up on its definition of obscenity. There are movies I consider too offensive for a young 47 year-old like myself. Blood and guts, tragic human misery, unthinkable violations of body, soul and mind...that kind of stuff. But in my humble opinion, human bodies would not naturally fall into the category of "obscene." So we've got a whole nation that thinks violence is good for general consumption, but breasts are unhealthy images. I wonder if that kind of thinking could lead to problems with violent crime and sexual repression. ....naw..........

Supe,

A person is a complicated thing (in most cases) and most of us are neither conservative all the time nor liberal all the time.

I have conservative leanings (especially after a nice toddy at night) but also grew up as the kid of a liberal Art Professor Mother and some of it rubbed off and took root.

Breasts you say? We all have them and just why is it that a ladies treated as something to hide when guys can walk around all day with no shirt on? After living in Europe where men and women sunbathe either halfway or totally nude in the public parks, I have a hard time dealing with the phobia that America has for a body that is not totally covered up!

Was parachuting years ago in Germany and got weathered in by rain one day. We all went down to the local "swimbad" to relax. Pool was nice followed by the jacuzzi. We then all hopped in the sauna and everyone was still without clothes, both girls and boys. No one paid any attention and dammit it just felt natural. No one snickering like would be done here in America by some of the guys or looking at the girls in anything other than a "normal" way.

Was pulled aside by two of the ladies at dinner that night. "Du bis nicht normal fuer an Ami" (you are not a normal American) was the comment that they made. I told them that I was not nor ever wanted to be considered normal and we all laughed. They then told me that they had many American skydivers at the DZ and that all wore their bathing suits in the sauna and were shy about their bodies when around girls.

As the bier and schnaps flowed I tried to explain the influence of religion and conservative outlooks in America but they still did not totally understand it. In Europe the majority of the people are taught that your body is a nice, clean, natural thing and sex is also natural between two consulting adults. Wish I could say the same thing about America.

I voted for Bush but it was not easy after watching Ashcroft drape the statue behind him to cover its breast. Had I known that he wrote his resignation letter on 2 Nov it would have been easier from where I stand but thats old history now.

BTW if you think that we are going to let you get by with : to get beyond the oversimple and fallacious assertions offered by conservatives, and arrived at rational, compassionate (liberal) conclusions. then you are more than a bit silly! Anyone who has a "level head" will stand back and look at both sides of the situation, then come to a conclusion. Rational and liberal come together only in your postings!

Island and I have been over this, and he aludes to it in his last post. Written communication is missing all the voice inflections, facial expressions, etc. If, as they say, 80% of communication is nonverbal, then our posts lack that depth, and can be easily misinterpreted.

What you don't know Joe, that Island probably does, is that I make only a little effort to try to ensure that folks don't get the wrong idea. Until I went ballistic in this election season, I was pretty reliably nice and gentle and funny and respectful. There have been times when I asked folks to just always imagine when reading my posts, that I had a huge grin on my face while writing it. I probably did, in fact. So, most folks attach the "nice" and "funny" assumptions to my posts. That's almost always accurate.

But I also am going to give some folks an opportunity to misinterpret my remarks. Just because it entertains me. Hope I'm not being mean. I like a little trouble now and then. so you see, labor relations is the right industry for me after all.

Whoa! I just noticed something. You said "Rational and liberal come together only in your postings!" Thank you for that.

And yes, I would agree that both sides have some valid points. Just don't tell Fint that I said that.

Supe,

They may come together but come on here, making statements like "only liberals make the correct conclusion" is way out there as well!

We all know that WE are right, whoever we are. Right now we (I) am going to have lunch!

read some place years ago that in England, it was very unfashionable for fathers to show any sort of affection towards their sons, blood sports became very popular and within a decade England was a dominate world power - taking over vast regions.

What sort of country you we going to have in 20 years if botox, saline and silicone rule - but the au natural is forbidden fruit?

It has been my direct experience that woman of Denmark are very liberal when it comes to their bodies and most seem to take great care and pride in them - freely sharing at a moments notice.

Here in the states - with the exception of certain locals, most women here are a bit rough to get to know physically quickly. According to the maxim "you always want what you can't have", the flesh desire for the American male increases exponentially (sp) becuase the bitty ain't givin up the kitty!

Lube,

The ladies in Europe do not have the "guilt trip" hanging over their head that the American ladies do... they were brought up differently and do as they please.

This is not to say that they are sleeping with anyone and everyone but if they see a gent they enjoy they have no stigma about spending a night or weekend with him after getting to know each other.

American ladies are all worried about "should I have slept with him" when the European ladies are more concerned with the important parts like "is he a nice guy, do I like him and should I see him again" which usually leads to a longer and healthier relationship.

Regarding the "kitty"... when living over there it was not unusual for the girl to want to get "friendly" and the guy not be ready just yet. Led to a interesting situation of role reversal because the European guys tend to think with their upper head a lot more than American men seem to do at times...

Guess I am old fashioned in that I want to know and like a lady personally before anything sexual. Finding sex for me is not that difficult if I really was dying for it... but finding someone to make love with is not so easy. There is a big difference...

Ahhh Germany. The land of fast cars and more porn shops than gas stations. Yes-it's different there. Better? That's a matter of taste. I prefer an American woman's modesty, mystery, frequent bathing as well as shaven legs. But that's just me. I love how many feel Euros have the corner on the good sex market. Sorry-the fact that it's less taboo makes it also less exciting in my opinion.

Is sex dirty? It is if you do it right! A line in an old Woody Allen movie. Too true. If it were as natural as taking a leak, it would become about as boring...just a natural pressure release.

Sebring,

You must not have been there recently. My first trip 30 years ago the majority of the ladies did not shave. Now they are most all "progressive" and shave their 'pits and legs and other areas...

More porn shops than tankstelle's? Not where I lived and that was in 5 parts of Berlin, out in West Germany and Denmark as well but guess you find them if you look for them. I did not and did not pay them much notice.

Its never boring if she smiles at you the right way IMHO...

J-You are correct. It's been a few years-about ten. I didn't look for the porn-it was very casual. Even the airport had porn.

I have heard - but can not confirm that Iceland has the absolute best looking women (not all blond - so they say), can hold a conversation and have the sexual appitite of a 14yr. The messed up seasons, volcanos and glaciers - might explain alot.

Lube,

They also have a very beautiful country. The scenery is very nice but different. Iceland is the only country in the world with 100 percent of its population who can read and write as well as the highest percentage of people connected to the internet.

Was there recently and its getting dark as usual there this time of year. In Winter you only have about 3 hours of light there, with long periods of dusk then just plain dark about 14-16 hours. They do have some nice displays of Northern Lights.

They are not all blonde and they can hold a conversation very well, in several languages. My poor Danish worked very well there but the majority of them also speak English.

Take a trip there! Iceland Air has flights where you can go from CONUS to Europe with a stop in Iceland for no extra charge. Very nice people there but you need to know how to drink as they have mastered this very well.

I met several many years ago, in Newport RI, 83' during the America's Cup - fascibating were the girls but the guys were a bit stand-offish. All were great sailors and you are correct, they could drink! Mostly vodka but they all found a quick love for Jack and Johnnie.

AGREED. So here is a pic of a little dog standing on a giant apple. Dogs are so damned cute IMHO.

Now can we ask the moderators to just delete this damned thread before a newbie sees it and thinks we are all *********s?
