Why do all the good cartoonists quit?

Excellent thread. Thank you!

Mine was $70 at Costco. The Far Side panel next to my work desk is the one of the Crisis Clinic on fire, and about to go over the waterfall.

Also like the cartoon showing the evolution of Jazz man.

There is the one where God is making the world - looks like a mixing bowl in a kitchen. Anyway, the caption say's something like: "............and to make life interesting".

The itemGod is adding is called "nuts", but they are little crazy people coming out of a salt shaker.

Randy -- these books are supposed to have every single Far Side in them (including some that weren't widely published) so when I come across it, I'll post it here. The only trouble is, the books are in Syracuse and I'm on Long Island. Next time I'm "home" I'll find it for you.

Another fave: Father porcupine watching his child playing with a balloon: "well, this shouldn't last long."

Randy --

Is this what you're after:

For some reason it won't let me upload the image, so just click this link: http://www.getacard.com/product_page.php?PRID=437&CGID=20688

My favorite one has three dogs, a husband and a wife dog and a male visitor dog. They're standing by the fireplace admiring the dent in the front end of a car that's mounted above the mantle like the head of a trophy buck.

The quote is from the wife dog and goes something like this: "Don't listen to him Earl, the darn thing swerved to miss him and ran into a tree". The glare from the husband dog to his wife is absolute perfection.

One of my favorites was the dogs in the lab, with their lab coats on. One is looking longingly out the window, where there are cats in the yard. Several are sitting at a workbench with doorknobs in various states of disassembly. There is an overhead projector with a schematic of a doorknob on it. One of the dogs is saying something about what a breakthrough it would be if they could ever figure these things out.

JP,

That just might be it...or at least a variation of it. Seems to me the one I saw had an image of a few cows standing around an open field with a fence running across it.

Thanks for posting it though!

Randy
