Let me add a few numbers to the equation here, just so everyone knows what is what.

I am active duty Air Force, and I pay $16.25 a month for SGLI (insurance). If I die on active duty, my wife recieves $250,000. For 6.00 a month, I have (I think) $15k insurance on my family members, no matter how many there are.

Also note, there is a lower priced option for $125K for members who choose. Everyone in the military is defaulted into the SGLI program, you must discontinue it if you pick up other insurance and do not want it.

So... from my perspective, doubling the 6k to 12k? No biggie. Nice, yes, but if it didn't happen... so be it. It's not like that is all a military family recieves.

"What is life worth?"

To answer your original question, life is worth whatever you can convince those who have all the money to pay for that life.

It's not how much your life is worth, it's how much do you care about the quality of life for your family when you're gone. Life insurance and lots of it! At least that's my take on it.

Oh yeah, and Superman, next time you see a drunk driver kill someone, go visit the surviving family. Then come back to this forum and tell any of us that their grief was any less than those of 9/11.

Foot,,,,mouth,,,,I belive they fit.
