Education is great. But Wayne was never taught to open up Pelican Parts at MIT. Wayne engaged his brain and came up with an idea that he thought was worthy of putting his future on the line. Way to go Wayne.

To be able to take something that you're passionate about, and turn it into a money making endevor. How many people on this planet have that opportunity? How many that have that opportunity take advantage of it, and make it happen?

Wayne, If you were ever handed the business model for PP as part of your education, please correct me.

And once again, I think education is great. But given the choice between having a brilliant education or a brilliantly creative mind, I'll go with creativity. I am fortunate to have just a little bit of both.

In the future, America will be a Third World Country. Pockets of the wealthy will exist here and there, but they'll be living Omega Man like existences - just as they do in L.A.

That's why I like Charlton Heston. He played all that end-or-world stuff in the '70s. He's like the Karnac of world implosion.

Ronin, Jamie: It looks like I would only have time for a beer or two at some point this weekend, but not time for much else. On Saturday I likely will be rifling through a 12 x 24, high-ceiling storage locker packed with junk, looking for a Bosch 6-pin CD box. The storage locker is located in Thurston County. Then there are some Sunday chores I'm being set up for. So, Ellensburg is not likely for me. I'd always like to get together with you guys though, so lets work something out, this weekend or another.

In the future, corporate leaders will discover that the efficiency gains of a highly technological, networked workforce have been negated by employees' use of online web discussion forums during the hours of 8am and 5pm.

They will order that plugs be pulled, switches switched off, routers destroyed. Realizing that wireless devices are on the premises and that they have absolutely no control over their non-working workforces, they will dissolve the companies.

We will revert to an agrarian society, shouting at one another from farm field to farm field, "Hey! You got any oil-fed tensioners over there?"

Reducing this once great country to third world status as opening markets like China discover the incredible power of creativity.
This is WHY I voted Repblican.....Both Gore and Kerry were going to make "equal opportunity" unfair...

America will increasingily become a country of have and have nots....the correct term for it is a FOURTH WORLD COUNTRY...

Education is the key...Andy Grove has pointed out that Americans have become soft and are taking the easy Liberal Arts classes instead of the Math, Science classes needed to keep America competive....part of it is that we have been a wealthy country for too long...more than 2 generations now and everybody EXPECTS to own a mansion in Beverly Hills because they are owed it...and that we have gone too far down the road of socialism...our failing eduction system is a good example of socialism at work...

That's part of the advantage of incorporating. So, they are 'citizens' in a way. They file their own income tax forms, etc. But there is still an important difference. They don't vote.

But wait a minute. These creatures that don't vote most definitely have a stake in public policy formation. They're affected by legislation. And they have FORMIDABLE financial resources. So, they get involved in the process of making public policy. But they don't vote. They don't have to breathe the air or drink the water. Their decision-makers are legally bound to maximize profits in any way that is not illegal (usually).

Awe, nevermind. Let me just ask you this: Are you aware that corporations have a great deal of influence over Congress? I should just take this one step at at time but assuming you admit that Congress is powerfully influenced by corporations, then I'll ask whether you believe that corporate interests might ever be in conflict with whats' good for citizens. Here's a clue: Pollution. Why would a corporation, whose sole agenda is maximizing profits, ever become concerned about pollution? Except to avoid fines, or to avoid public disdain. And please don't pretend that the leaders of a large corporation might leave profits on the table in the interest of public health. They are not allowed to do this, if those profits (obtained by polluting) are there for the taking and are not illegal.

Oh, and I have a beer every weekend. At least one. I'd be honored if you would join me.
Unfortunately your diatribe against corporations is naive at best....You OWE your very standard of living to these very organizations you so villify...

Corporations provide....Economy of scale...so that the price of all those luxury goods you own...like your car, refergrator, washing machine, dryer, TV and compiter are affordable to the masses....and it takes alot of R&D money to develope new technology that only a large organization like a corporation can provide...this goes to the quality of your life as well....for instance all the prescription drugs that make your life longer and healthier..
