He might - I had a quick look and his whole point was to try and reduce it down to one factor. He might also refer to the fact that IQ is increasing over time, due to education and nutrition.

I actually don't care if there is a difference, and I am perfectly happy to believe there is a genetic difference in intelligence. This does not, in any way, demonstrate overall superiority of one race over another. The issue of "intelligence", including how it is measured and the impact of environmental factors, suggests that race alone may be an indicator but is unlikely to be the strongest one.

I'd be interested to know what Church you go to which would teach that "walking the walk" includes holding derogatory views of one's neighbour based on no other factor than their ethnicity. Do you hate Asian Christians? Black Christians? Middle Eastern Christians (being persecuted)? Pacific Island Christians?

'Intelligence' and intelligence assessment are concepts super riddled with holes. Even defining it is quite difficult if we are talking about some type of inherent capacity rather than skill or performance levels on certain tasks.

One of the concerns that Alfy raises is not that off base (I can't believe I am saying this - and I am sure it will be taken out of context) - the Asian countries have always been plagued by lack of natural resources and social unrest so the ruling class kept them in check so to speak. One way of doing this was to thwart creative reasoning. Makes sense, you really don't want to have a billion of your loyal subjects thinking out of the box. I have been told by many of the folks I know from mainland China and even Korea and Japan that you are taught 1+1 = 2 and not to ask why.

If I was to compare the Asians that I have had the opportunity to study with or work with and compare them to the Americans, I would unhapplily say that the Asians have more focused thoughts and a far better work ethic.

Alfy - too bad you had bad experiences with Asians in particular. Living in my shoes you would have developed a deeper respect for a people that have had very little and learned to make the best from it.

Western civilization measures intelligence in ways that are familiar and comfortable to us. When indigenous peoples of the third world are raised in western society, they generally score at the same levels as westerners. The best examples are the infants from New Guinea that were relocated by missionaries and raised in Europe. They had IQ's that generally surpassed those of their European cohorts.

There exists no primitive society where stupidity offers selective advantage. None.

Is it possible that some ethnic group is "naturally" superior in math and science, while another group excels in the arts? Sure. Who cares? Alfred, I do not want to live in a world where the only forces that shape my life originate from white people. Much of the texture and richness of my life would be gone.

I'm sure I would not meet your definition of "Christian", but I have known many Christians that I admire and respect. All of them have something you lack; love. Without love in your heart, Christianity is an empty message.

The problem with people like Alfred is that they will always be able to find “data” that they can interpret in such a way as to “prove” they are correct. Heck, look at his interpretation of bible quotes. Seasoned Christians don’t even interpret the bible that way. You cannot argue with a person like this. His reality, his sense of logic and reasoning, is so different than yours and mine that he will twist and contort anything he needs to prove his point. He could probably prove (to himself at least) that 1+1=3 if he were so inclined.

Most of us have learned that the true worth of a human being lies deeper than the skin. Alfred has not learned this. Not only does he place worth in others by the color of their skin, he finds his own worth in his own skin color. He lives in the dark ages, where the un-enlightened still consider their own race, religion, etc to be superior.

Alfred lives in a world of hate, anger and fear. He hates anyone who thinks, acts, believes, has different skin color, etc, than he does. This leads to anger and fear, as these other people appear to be threats to him and his beliefs. This makes him a very scary person. Who knows where this anger and fear will take him. It was this very anger and fear that led Timothy McVeigh (a white supremacist) to blow up the federal building, and it was this very anger and fear that led to 9/11. It is this hate, anger and fear that drives terrorists all over the world.

Alfred, unless you take off your pointy white hood and get out there in the world and interface with people different than you, you will never find their true worth as human beings, and you will never find your own true worth. You will never be truly happy. I feel sorry for you, stuck in this world you’ve created for yourself. What a miserable life you must lead. I hope you find freedom from your daemons and haunts.
