Congrats on the Duc, I love those bikes. I've got to warn you, the carbs are a pain in the ass to get right. I've played with a lot of carbs, but I could never get my monster to run perfect. If your not up for it, take it to a good wrench. I can recomend a great one in Madison WI, but thats a long haul for you. Anyway its running lean, at least at part throttle. When the pipe and filter were put in, someone probably put in fat mains, but left the idle jets stock. Hard to say if they dicked around with the needles or the floats.
I always liked the stock SS bars, so no advice there. If you ride hard, get a steering damper. Do you have the 4.5" or 5.5" rear rim. Most perfer the 4.5 with a 160 tire, makes the bike handle like magic. |

Hey Dave...
No I did not see that one. I was only casually looking on E-bay, and I had a budget in mind. That 888 would have been out of my budget even with my OBO haggling skills I'm sure ![]() Funny the seller of the second 900SS that I posted was at RA during the AMA races,,,he would have brought his bike there for me to see if it had not sold...Oh well..I found one closer. Anton, I have the SP variety, so 5.5 rear rim with new 170 tires. I'm going to play with the carbs a bit...and I have some 39mm FCRs that I can use (spares from my FCR-911 Project). We'll see how my life with the Duc goes in the next couple of weeks...before I spend serious time and money on it. Last edited by MotoSook; 06-16-2005 at 06:07 AM.. |
