Sorry Cam, the tamil tigers are the Indonesian franchisee of the terrorist muslims.

Right

Firstly the Tamil Tigers operate in Sri Lanka using terrorist attacks to try & free a Tamil state from Sri Lanka. I doubt they have any interest in Indonesia whatsoever.

Secondly, there are more Hindu Tamil Tigers than Muslims.

 What are you talking about? Even if it were true -- which it is not -- it doesn't have anything to do with the discussion. There are millions of Arab Christians and Jews in the Middle East. I presume that they have Arab names. My great-grandfather, who was a Syrian Christian, had an Arab name.

Moneyguy1 07-12-2005 09:39 AM

Mule..I have met Hindus, Muslums and others with surnames like George, Charles, and other westernized names The CHinese restaurant we frequent has an owner named Sally and one waitress with the very un-Chinese name of Susan.. Your point is?

Sometimes you make even less sense than usual!!!

This conversation is very lame on both sides so I will make some quick points and leave it.

1. For those who say democracy in Iraq is not possible because:
a. Iraq has no history of democracy
b. It is being imposed from the outside

I say: Japan had no history of democracy in 1945 and Germany only had a brief disfunctional fling. Both had democracy imposed from the outside to great success.

2. Why is it important to have a democracy in Iraq? It is the most stable form of government. and *usually* democracys don't fight other democracys or engage in funding terrorism. There are of course exceptions, but I am talking as a general rule.

Bush and Blair were wrong about weapons of mass destruction, but let's give credit, the current direction of democratizing Iraq is correct, and if successful, in the long term will result in LESS terrorism and LESS world angst in general.

3. How to stop *broadly* stop terrorism in the rest of the world:
A. Encourage democracy as mentioned above.
B. Encourage capitalism and free markets. History has proven again and again that Democracy works best when there is moderate economic success and a certain level of wealth distribution. When there is dire poverty, people just want things fixed and fanatics and totalitarianism are bred. Modern examples of this included the Weimar Republic and in Czarist Russia. Hitler and Lenin could never have taken power if there was a chicken in every pot and a car in every garage. Remember, Hitler was actually VOTED into power. People were willing to sacrifice almost everything for economic stablility.

There, of course is an theorem for the opposite condition: If there is too much wealth, people don't care about governing, and are willing to let others run the show. This happened in Rome when the civic population of Rome became so satisfied with "bread and circuses" that they let a few strong men do all the governing. Thus the Republic became an Empire. This is also the case in various ME countries that have vast material wealth. Think about it. If everyone was rich, would you care what happened in congress? Probably not....unless you were one of those without wealth in which case you'd be very, very ticked.

By *broadly* stop terrorism, of course, just that BROADLY. Nothing will stop nuts like the Unabomber form mailing a package, Timothy McVeigh from setting of a car bomb or people from putting nerve gas in the Tokyo subway.

So, in summary how to stop terrorism *broadly*?

1. Stay the course in Iraq and Afghanistan until they are fully functional democracys. On a tactical level. it would help to seal the Syrian border with Iraq as that is the main conduit for the insurgents.

2. Continue to push democracy by peaceful means elsewhere and encourage free trade and capitalism. These are "American" virtues and have been for some time so this should be nothing new.

3. Isolate the true nuts: N. Korea, Iran. This is already happening.

4. Ignore the naysayers. There will be lots of bumps in the road.

That is all I have to say.

I'm sure there is a book you could read in the meantime, with a title like: Vietnam - A War America Could have Won

Just throw more flesh in the fire, the other side will have to give up first.

No one says "no" to this. Everyone would like to know how long it will take to accomplish this. I hear Blair says U.S. forces can start withdrawing next Spring. Bush has said nothing to this effect.

As for me, I'll take my coffee black...

1967 - points well made. This thread was going in circles. Thank you.

Mule 07-12-2005 10:50 AM

Money, Sally in the Chinese restaraunt is more than likely Vietnamese & has adopted an American name. As for the rest of your statement, there are more 21 yr old virgins in Tiajuana than ther are indigenous non-arab surnames in the muslim world. Here's a link for you to check out so you can see the love & kindness of the muslim faith. Something else you can do is look up the number of fatwas issued by peace loving muslims against osama & his murdering. The Prophet of Doom

strother 07-12-2005 10:55 AM

Ok, Mule, we get it. You hate Muslims. Thanks for participating.

Scary, scary, scary....................I'm showing this to a Muslim/historian and two tours of Vietnam vet, can you even guess what he's going to say? The over 100 people he killed in action was before he converted - was a loving Christian boy back then.

Scary Christians

Moneyguy1 07-12-2005 11:24 AM

mule..you are so wrong. She is from Hong Kong. I have a neighbor from Iran whose name is Samuel. That's what you get by jumping to conclusions, which you are soooooo good at..

Please read my previous posts and what I think of the muslim faith. How often does one have to repeat himself before you get it? In short: As practiced my many, it is a flawed faith in that it marries politics and religion into one incomprehensible mess that does justice to no one. It is made up of factions that disagree, kill each other and contradict each other's opinions (fatwas) at the drop of a hat. Incoherent and internally contrdictory. Read the Koran.

Clear enough?

stevepaa 07-12-2005 11:37 AM

sometimes i can't tell the difference between mule and fintstone

oh wait, finstone just keeps repeating propaganda and mule keeps displaying his hatred and bigotry.

Moneyguy1 07-12-2005 11:43 AM

Two pages from the same book. Basic difference is one cites sources and the other posts opinions.
