That must have been the only one of my posts you read. I voted for Bush 2x. Campaigned for him 2x. Stated plainly that Kathleen Blanco is an incompitent fool. You buffoons apparently thing that electing a bad governor is tantamount to being sentenced to death. You don't know how I wish you had loved ones there to test the depth of your political conviction.

Otherwise, my standard post in regards to these finger pointing threads:

I think it is pointless to try and figure who is responsible for the levees breaking and what not...they have been there for a long time, but nobody had done anything to improve them. There is a long list of responsibility...too long to discuss.

Therefore I will address how the disaster was handled AFTER the levees broke....particularly the looting and other chaos. There are many parties that share in the blame of this travesty.

1. The people of NO. During the North East black-out which was a disaster which encompassed many more people, rioting and looting did not break out...even though it was a choice opportunity. Likewise during 911 there was no widespread looting even though the entire financial district of NY was buried under inches of powdered concrete dust for weeks.

So why is there looting in NO? I am not enough of a sociologist to figure this one out...but clearly the people actually doing the stealing and shooting are responsible. First and foremost.

2. The Mayor...It is HIS city. It is HIS responsibility. By putting all of the burden for fixing the disaster on the government, he made the same mistake that Bilandik made during the 1979 Blizzard.

Unlike other Chicago blizzards Bilandik made no appeal to the public to help out...to help the government help them. So the people just looked for the gov't to save them. Problem was, the blizzard was WAY beyond the ability of the government to deal with without the support of the people. Very similar to what has transpired in NO.

3. The Governor. It's the largest city in her state. Once the levies broke it was clear that the "shoot to kill" order should have been issued immediately.

4. The Federal Gov't. Call it Bush...call it FEMA...call it whatever you will. I think we can all agree that faster action needed to be taken to restore order.

That is all I have to say about that.

"I just got back from helping in N.O. at the Superdome. TV news reports look like Disneyland compared to how it really is at "ground zero." They couldn't get any doctors to go because people were shooting at the helicopters and it wasn't a safe place. Unfortunately, all of the people who didn't evacuate and had to go to the dome were the poorest of the population and also the sickest with the most medical problems. We saved a lot of them but we had to be evacuated around 2am this morning because a couple of medics were shot by civilian snipers. There are about 20,000 people still stranded in the dome and no way to get them out because of the flooding. The toilets don't work, the lights don't work, the air conditioning doesn't work, they can't smoke or drink and people are just feeling like caged animals led to slaughter.

"Dead people are floating in the streets everywhere. They are expecting the death toll to be more than 50,000. There were three rapes in the dome yesterday, one was a seven year old girl. Child molesters, convicts and very desperate people who can no longer smoke, drink, or watch Dr. Phil and Oprah. It is truly the wild wild west.

"One of the civilians grabbed the M-16 of one of the MPs and shot someone. There are people being stabbed every so often. Babies being born in front of everyone. People having seizures, hypertensive strokes, heart attacks, etc. because we are out of supplies, IVs, medicine, breathing treatments, etc.

"No semblance of order whatsoever. A very desperate situation. There were only three of us (doctors) there all day yesterday with about 10 medics but we were forced to evacuate early this morning because the conditions had deteriorated so severely that it was not safe to be anywhere around there.

"I am in Lafayette now, working. The phone service is hit and miss and I can only get Internet from work. We cannot send any outgoing messages sometimes."

Additionally, loosing power is not in the same league with an entire city under water, neither is two buildings collapsing. But I'm glad you pointed out that your ghetto thugs are much more well behaved than NO ghetto thugs. I hope you are not really that deluded.

Okay, I'll mention the other politicians. Let's mention the Governor or Louisiana. Let's mention the Mayor of NO. The head of the Parish. The President. Let's include anyone I left out.

Now, wouldn't it be nice to see some "leadership" at this point? And what resources do the state and the city have that can address this disaster? What? Not enough resources? Well then, who on the above list might be coming forward with some resources and some leadership. Oops. He doesn't have any leadership and most of his resources are overseas. Well, we can use whatever he's got left. I mean in terms of resources. I've given up on expecting any leadership from the White House.

Apparently you are unaware that a large portion of NJ works in Manhattan. They take the train into town. The train runs on electricity. With no electricity the only way you are getting home is to walk, take the ferry or hitch a ride. Nonetheless, in 2003 there was no major looting in NYC.

1. Blackout: Guess you never heard of the 1977 NY blackout? A blackout can be an invitation to crime. Yet there was no looting in 2003.

2. 911: The kinetic force of the towers falling was equated with a tactical nuclear bomb. There are probably more people in the financial district of NYC than in all of NO. Yet there was no major looting in 2001...crime actually declined over the course of the year.

Bush is doing just that and the Democrats, out of the side of their mouths that they are not blaming Bush, are simply along for a photop...They (Democrats) created this problem of entitlement mentality, welfare dependency, and infrastructure negligence...Of course, as usual, their solution to the problem they created is a bigger, more cumbersome and wasteful nanny government.

Sometimes I believe Democrats intentionally amplify and create social ills in order to further their covert designs of communism and control.

I am having a hard time following you...but whatever....that was clearly not my point.

In anycase, as with my original post, this finger pointing thread is just like the rest and just as pointless. There is enough blame to go around.
