That's kind of what I thought. Just wanted to see if anyone else came up with the same thing without prompting. Still cool.

They are dredging the water to make it deeper. It is a fuse blowing it though. .............

This is a very dark internal video produced by General Motors to basically tell their workers how crappy they were in the 1970s! Damn furrin' cars!

Saving fuel with minimal aerodynamic drag

An improvement to truck aerodynamics is also possible. A targeted air flow using roof and side spoilers results in less dynamic pressure and consequently less drag and lower fuel consumption. The teardrop shape of MAN's future development Concept S is the aerodynamic ideal.

Thanks.

The reason it took a plunge into the water is that too much of the lift fan was dedicated to skirt pressure and not enough to actual lift in my opinion.

Meaning the super rigid over inflated skirt acted like any other hard hull when it came into contact with water and parasitic drag pulled it down.

There simply wasn't enough cushion pressure under the craft, and just enough air escaping underneath on hard surfaces to act as an air bearing.

The craft was overpowered and over weight in many respects.

Top performing hovercraft are all about lightness compared to surface area, and not power to weight ratio as with land vehicles/cars.
