Built in 1968 it was powered by a mid-mounted, two-stage gas turbine engine from Continental Aviation which had originally been developed for use in military helicopters. It was also the first turbine-powered car to win a race (two, to be precise).

^^^ I worked at Howmet in 72-76 at the Whitehall location in MI.
All we made were the turbine segments.(blades) from start to finish.

I used to sharpen/grind the sugar beat harvester blades as part of one of my college jobs, they kind of looked like turbine blades.

The Chute in Sand Hollow. This obstacle is basically straight up as you can see! It was raining which made things very slippery and muddy. That didn't stop him from going up The Chute and showing us all hows its done

The guy i worked with learning carpentry had a 73 dart with a 440 he was building. He used 4 cadillac mufflers to keep it quiet and have good flow it was trick back in the day. I dont know if he finished it yet or if he is even still around but I always keep an eye out when i go to car shows in his area.
