This one has caught my eye as well. I am trying to get my wife to go down and look at it for me. But that is like asking the cashier at the DMV to come mow my lawn. It just ain't gonna happen.

USAA quoted me $189 a year for full coverage so I'm happy there.
Shipping is very expensive from anywhere to Montana between $700 to $1000 depending on method so I'm looking hard at riding a bike back. The hazard with that is the roads/weather can be "iffy" this time of year in the grand hellhole known as Montana.

Speaking of crappy weather, it's really looking like I'm not going to be able to get down for the UPM in Vegas because of the snow in the passes.

I am pretty sure my GS uses a similar engine to the Cruiser. Mine has plenty of go.

I put a deposit (refundable if I don't like the ergos) on one of these. Not quite a cruiser though...

And still trying to get a good ride on a Multistrada.

I have ridden a couple Multistrada's, and while I enjoyed the ride, it just didn't have the substaqnce of the GS. If that makes sense.

The mirrors were totally worthless too. As the turnsignals were integrated into them, it wasn't like it woudl be eassy to swap them out either...

They changed the mirrors for '05, and evidently you can get a free swap if you complain. The sidestand had issues too.

I'm not sure I want to go to a full blown sport bike for my commuter/fun bike, but the new Triumph seems to be a great package, and a very narrow setup.

Are you thinking the MS 1000 or 620? I'm getting the impression the 620 is preferable in a some ways, and quite affordable.

That new triple is the bomb - but it needs another 375cc Ride the S3 before you shot your wad on the Daytona.

the S3 is cool, but I like a lighterweight bike...in the wt/hp game, I like a small numerator. The D675 is well under 400lbs.

I hadn't considered the 620, as my Monster620 didn't really have the get up and go that I wanted, but I'll read the thread and maybe hop on one. They are a lot cheaper, and the slipper clutch on the 620 is nice on the hands for commuting.

I have ridden the K1200R. It is indeed very nice. It revs high and is more flickable than any other BMW. The Hossack type front end is a wonder.

If it has a flaw it is that the wind protection is insufficient for a bike with that much HP.

But, of course, you aren't buying a naked bike for wind protection.

Todd, that Daytona 6 is the cats arse, but for crying out loud, its a squid machine and you're, well, adult. Just don't let it egg you on.

As to those BMW cruisers, a doc buddy of mine bought one as a midlife mobile, and when I first saw it, my reaction was simply that I didn't know they served acid for lunch in the Beemer employee cafe. It is seriously well put together, though, and at least the weirdness is Teutonic weirdness, as opposed to a Honda Rune or something

I guess it's all a matter of taste. I can't see how someone would think the R1200C is horrific and think that black bike above is a thing of beauty. Talk about LSD use. It better deflect radar energy or something.

As a self-proclaimed connoisseur of two wheeled BMW's, I would say the R1200C is the most beautiful BMW bike ever made.

However, it is too different for 99% of the cruiser crowd which, although professing to be iconoclasts, seem to follow their own narrow-minded rules of bike aesthetics.

Enjoy it knowing that you are riding a future classic.

You got that right. My idea of a good looking bike is along the lines of the FZ1 (absent the stupid exhaust can and weird headlight) or the new SR4s Monster Duc. Too many modern bikes seem like they are a graphic novelist's idea of a motorcycle.

The tuning is very different between the GS and the C. LelenadP make sure you get a long enough test ride on the C. They have plenty of low end torque but are way low on HP

yeah...not sure that i want to go full sport. I rode a Multistrada 620 today. Surprising punch for that small of a motor...felt like it had more guts than my Monster 620 did. It is kinda wacky fun with the sit up and beg position and all the leverage from the flat bars. That with some pipes and modified tune could be pretty fun.

And here is the lucky winner!

I stole it for $6,000.

It's a '98 with ~10K miles.
It comes with saddlebags, tank bag, intercom, and battery maintainer.

So, I'll be driving down to Fresno to pick it up around the first of April.

Hot Damn!
Snazzy, she is. Great color, too. Congrats.
.
You going to load her in the back of a pickup or a trailer or what?
Do you have experience in loading/tying down a bike?
.
Have a safe trip and enjoy your new rig.

Actually what made this such a good deal is that I already had a plane ticket to Sacramento for 1 Apr. My wife is in Manteca, finishing her degree in nursing.

So, I was going to visit over spring break. Now it would appear that I am also going to be picking up my new toy.

If the weather holds I will ride it back on or around 15 Apr.

This is but a small consolation for being royally shafted out of the Las Vegas UPM this weekend because of snow in the passes.

The first thing out of my wife's mouth was "The black matches your 993, too".

...only a woman.
