HardDrive, I like you're thinking. My car takes all sorts of abuse in the rain. Just Saturday I drove through a number of huge puddles and you could just see the water splashing up all over (as well as mud). When i got back, my rear quarters and rockers were drenched in mud. My car is a disgrace to garage queens everywhere. LOL.

"So does yours leak?"
"Yeah, a couple drops around the return pipes..."
"No, I mean the top."
"Oh, it doesn't leak anymore."
"So you FIXED the leak, eh?"
"Right..."

Well, it actually has been raining like crazy this winter in NoCal. 29 inches this winter so far, about 140% of normal, and March had more days of rain (25 in SF) than any year since 1904 (reords kept since 1850). 8 inches of rain in March. Seems like the rain started in late Nov or early Dec and there's hardly been a 3 day period without rain since then.

We've had hail in Berkeley and snow in Marin. We're starting to get mudslides, this first couple weeks of the kids' soccer have been cancelled, and its going to be a heck of a fire season this summer.

On the flip side, the ski season has been great and California has stored up enough water to get through 2 years of drought.

I'm now commuting between Portland OR and Berkeley CA - and the weather is lots nicer in Portland.

I was supposed to fly up to SF to pick up my new Ducati, but the rain is whacking the state but good. Looks like Wednesday might be a break in the action.

Yes, I know motorcycles don't melt in the rain, but if I can avoid doing 8 hours in a driving raingstorm, I'm going to do it...

Hey Matt,

If you don't like the rain go to ASU. Pheonix didn't get rain for better than 100 days this winter.

well originally my fathers company when i was 11

but i have left 3 times and keep coming back.

have done my 3 years in California. and if it wasn't for the job offer i never would have gone there. if it is over 85 i hated it.

the only 2 weeks of the year i enjoyed were the two weeks in January that it rained and i had to wear pants. otherwise it was to hot and smoggy for me. good thing i got to travel for that job. was able to be out of town 30+ weekends a year

so you can stay down there in your dirty little furnace.

I guess I have a right to complain about the rain. It caused our road to San Francisco, Highway 1 at the infamous Devil's Slide, to live up to its name. It'll be closed indefinately, probably a few months. Before, my wife commuted 25 minutes to SF, while I drove the kid to school, 15 minutes away. Now, it's 3 hours to SF and 2 hours to school. I can honestly say this is stressing me out.

That's the price you pay for living in one of the most scenic areas in the country.

Yes, it is. Devil's Slide looks just like Big Sur. Fun to drive on in the P-car, too. We'll just deal with it. My co-worker's wife and 9-year old son are going to stay in a hotel near her work and his school.

I couldn't agree with you more, where the hell is the sun? I moved here for the sun, NOT the rain, well actually I moved here for my wife, but still I escaped THE land of rain. Please bring back the sun because I've turned into a Californian rain complaining weakling.

Los Angeles, he walks again by night. Out of the fog, into the smog. (cough) Relentlessly, ruthlessly (NICK: I wonder where Ruth is), doggedly (woof woof), toward his weekly meeting with the unknown. At Fourth and Drucker he turns left. At Drucker and Fourth he turns right. He crosses MacArthur Park and walks into a great sandstone building (NICK: ooh - my nose). Groping for the door (ring) he steps inside (ring) climbs the thirteen steps to his office (ring). He walks in (ring). He's ready for mystery (ring). He's ready for excitement (ring). He's ready for anything (ring). He's... (answers phone)

NICK: "Nick Danger, third eye."

CALLER: "I want to order a pizza to go and no anchovies."

NICK: "No anchovies? You've got the wrong man. I spell my name Danger!" (HANGS UP).

CALLER: "What?"
